I was curious why ao mang tickets left to Wrestling and nothing for Judo. I Love both, but first one is more spectacular

Because France is non-existent in wrestling, while they will be dominating in judo, if it wasn't for Japan.

In 2028 it will be the opposite, with Americans loving wrestling and not caring that much for judo.

Official statement of the RWF

On August 5-11, a wrestling tournament will be held in Paris (France) as part of the Olympic Games. Russian wrestlers, under conditions of sanction pressure, unreasonable restrictions and severe checks for admission, managed to win 16 Olympic quotas out of 18 possible, despite the fact that many team leaders, including both talented youth and famous world leaders, winners of the Olympic Games were not allowed to compete.

In mid-June, a list of admitted athletes was published on the resources of the International Olympic Committee, including only 10 Russian wrestlers, six of whom are far from the status of Russian team leaders.

During the qualifying events, in accordance with the rules of the Olympic Charter, the World Anti-Doping Agency, the charter of the United World Wrestling, which created all the conditions for selection on the basis of sports, in a fair and uncompromising fight Russian wrestlers won the right to participate in the Olympic Games.

However, the International Olympic Committee became an obstacle on the way of Abdulrashid Sadulaev to the third Olympic peak, did not give Zaurbek Sidakov, Zaur Uguev, Musa Evloev and other wrestlers of the Russian National Team the opportunity to compete, and the United World Wrestling lost the last chance that the Olympic Games are a competition of the strongest .

In this regard, the executive committee of the Russian Wrestling Federation held an extended meeting with the Russian National Teams coaching staff in freestyle, women's and Greco-Roman wrestling and with athletes who received invitations to the Olympic Games, and came to an unanimous decision - to refuse to participate in the Olympic Games .

The Russian Wrestling Federation, athletes and coaches of the Russian National Teams in freestyle, women's and Greco-Roman wrestling will not follow the lead of politicians and will not allow the spirit of the Russian Team to be broken. We do not accept the unsportsmanlike selection principle that guided the International Olympic Committee when forming the list of eligible athletes, the purpose of which is to undermine the principle of unity of our team.

The Russian Wrestling Federation has always been and remains open to fair and uncompromising wrestling in open and equal relations. We are confident that the absolute majority of the wrestling world supports us. Any sane person understands that the status of the Olympic Games as the most significant sporting event is being questioned, and wrestling competitions without Russian athletes will be incomplete, and the champions will not receive the satisfaction of winning the Olympic tournament.

thanks to google translate, here Mikhail Mamiashvili says they don't send a team. but their wrestlers are allowed to participate individually if they want

but if you read it carefully if doesn't feel like he is giving them an option :d but at least on paper it means we shouldn't count all Russian wrestlers out yet. better to wait couple more days.

@MHSN I think you are wrong about reallocation in 96kg GR. This is the quota from WQT where :GER Lazogianis beat :SRB Kajaia in the quarterfinals. He lost the Olympic wrestle-off match and he should get quota.

    • It's good that Argentina is starting to get back on track economically. Every year, all of our alpine skiing teams train in August in Argentina in Ushuaia: "Fine del Mundo", as it advertises itself.
    • The relation of Trump with Russia and, more specific, with Putin is probably the most controversial (being generous) thing of the presidence of Trump, i dont believe the same but is clearly that China help democrats in that election, both are playing their games.   In Argentina the society is clearly divided, the people who are in the left side of the politics, peronist and kirchnerism are very against the goverment, propably the only genuine "rigth-wing" goverment since the recovery of the democracy in 1983. For me and the most part who are in the rigth wing: libertarians, nacionalist and conservatives, is probably the best goverment we see to this days, he made in his first year with a very few legislators in the congress some big and good changes:   1) In the economical: the inflation is only 3% per month since a more of 15% in the last months of the last year, Argentina has now fiscal, financial and comercial surplus-   2) Our country didnt have fighter planes and the goverment buy 24  American F16  -   3) He changes the electoral sistem for a "single ballot" sistem, we have an obsolete electoral sistem that doesnt change from the 19 century and specially, the peronist use for make fraud.   4) In my personal case, he really update the tax sistem for small/medium profesionals and traders.......and that save us to pay the 50% of our earnings to the state.   With a big expectations in the goverment, its better than i thinked before.
    • It could be better, or it could be much worse, for example, if the accusations that he has been accepting large amounts of money from Russia since 2017 are confirmed. Now let Harris win, which will end Trump's political career and I hope that in 4 years the Republicans will put up someone more predictable.     btw, how is this controversial president of Argentina doing?
    • More predictable is not always better, for me the goverment of Biden was one of the worst of the History of USA and i cant imagine what can happen with even a worse version like Harris is.   I hope, for the contrary, Trump be elected and "may be" the things changes for the better in the world.
    • I once read that Harris had never been to Europe before 2020, when she became vice president. On the other hand, her foreign policy will be more predictable, because it will be a continuation of Biden's policies. That is why I hope Harris wins, although the bookmakers are betting on Trump.
    • Harris is totally green on foreign policy. It will probably be a policy 100% led by Biden's people. Harris' main campaign emphasis is on abortion and women's rights.
    • So much for "everybody's laughing at us if we elect Harris"
