In Pool A and D, top 3 should go through. Pool B, it’s a tossup for 2nd, Kloth/Nuss should have no problem advancing. Pool C and D, it’s likely between Chamereau/Viera and Hermanova/Stochlova, and Paulikiene/Raupelyte and Akiko/Ishii for 3rd.

The most even pool by far is Pool F, any of those teams can win the group. I’d be surprised if Huberli/Brunner don’t advance though.

Very balanced draw for the women's tournament. In group F Hüberli and Brünner are the clear favorite for me.

Really looking forward to this tournament!!

How? Ludwig/Lippmann and Alvarez/Moreno have both made it very far in Elite16’s this year (quarterfinals in Doha for the Germans, and semifinals in Espinho for the Spaniards), and Placette/Richard aren’t half bad either. They’ll also be very motivated to perform well in front of their home audience.

Also it’s Brunner, not Brünner ;)

CNN loves these stories, they can play nicely on the angry feelings of Americans. As evidenced by the nonsense Reddit comments on this subject as well.

That he was rightfully punished for what he did, obviously, nobody here is disagreeing on that.

However, that one lady in the CNN article makes it sound like he is an actual danger in the Olympic village because of the presence of minors there, for which there just is no indication. And the Reddit comments are even worse (but yeah, Reddit), with nonsense like "it is disgusting to see how the Dutch volleyball community and everyone around him just accepted him back as if nothing happened". Which, no, they didn't, not at all. Nobody just accepted him back as if nothing happened, that was definitely a process of years, presumably even for his closest friends and family.

    • Despite total domination by the Norwegian men (and yes, it's exhausting and boring), the accomplishments this weekend of Emil Iversen and Einar Hedegart are worth highlighting, despite them being Norwegian.    Iversen was dropped by the Norwegian national team after the opener in Beitostølen 2 weeks ago and was not taken to Ruka. Instead, he won both the 10k and 20k Interval Classic starts in Gålå in the Norwegian Cup last week, which granted him a spot on the start line in Trondheim. He took full advantage of that opportunity and finished on the podium in the skiathlon, and finished just off the podium in today's 10k Interval Freestyle. This definitely puts his name in serious contention for a spot on the Olympic team, which looked incredibly doubtful just a few days ago.    Einar Hedegart, the 24-year-old biathlete who decided to challenge the stereotype that biathletes are inferior skiers to their cross-country counterparts, just won the 10k Interval Start against all of Norway's best in a de facto Olympic trial.    Yes, it's exhausting seeing nothing but Norwegian flags on the men's side, but there can be excitement just beneath the surface at times.
