Rodrigo Diego execution once again costs Mexico a better placement, it is very disappointing that he has the quality and talent but still lacks confidence and that killer instinct that Osmar shows.

Hoping he somehow finds that consistency and mental strength in Paris, with a consistent and clean, not even perfect, competition Mexico is maybe the Silver medal favourite at the Games in 3m Synchro.

Highly doubt that - it's difficult to gauge their performance potential because :MEX haven't competed much on the circuit with exception of Pan-Ams and World Champs, but :GBR will likely start as marginal favourite for silver with :MEX and :ITA in the mix for the podium.

Yes, Diego has always struggled with execution, that’s what’s kept him as a reserve for the 2020 cycle, with Pacheco, Ocampo, Celaya & Castillo ahead of him. Too bad, but if he doesn’t show a better performance I fear his place in the individual event might be up for an internal selection (and probably Berlin’s) too.

I agree with @Rafa Maciel, right now the British team is the 2nd best in the world behind China, mainly due to the internal drama in Mexico.

For the reputation yes, GBR have Jack Laugher who has all the medals to show, but the other guy is not that consistent and Laugher is now not that consistent as before.

Yes, Mexico has the weak link with Rodrigo Diego, but if you put the Degree of dificulty program mexican and brits have the same start value

In Doha Mexico was 4th just shy of a silver medal and in front of the brits, and here with clear errors from Diego they were 1 point behind GBR

Maybe Mexico is not the front runner behind China but is not that far from GBR and like I said IF (and is a big IF) Rodrigo has the competition of his life I can give the edge for the mexican pair in Paris.

Though everything can happen! let's remember who won silver and bronze in Doha with a less difficult program: Italy and SPAIN!!

@mrv86 I think Rodrigo and Kevin should focus only in the synchro events, right now they don't have any chance of a medal, the best scenario with them is an olympic final.

But remember the Mexican diving team for Paris is already decided in all events but the Men 3m Individual where Diego, Celaya, Ocampo will fight for that spot.

I thought that was only speculation, so only the 3m individual and the possible reallocation of a women’s 3m spot are to decide?
