this competition will decide the selection for the olympics in the :ISR team, in men  Reuveney need 8th place to overcome yoav omer for the place in the team

in women the race between Kantor Tibi and Spichakov is interesting, but overall what is heppening is that Spichakov needs to finish 2 places above the other 2, if not the one ahead from Tibi and Kantor will be selected, it is also interesting becose all of the team but  Spichakov are training in as a team under shahar tzuberi (olympic bronze medalist from 2008)

we have never had close to this size and quality of a team in any sport in the country (not to mention all of the team is in the top 16 which is crazy), we have a whatsapp group for following olympic sports and usually when there is judo we only talk judo, today we allmost ignored the judo to do simulations for who will be in the olympics

Quotas aside, Mariana Aguilar from Mexico finished top 10 for the second year in a row 😃

I hope she can also be in the medal race at the Olympics.

We still don't have any sailors qualified for Paris which is crazy considering we had 8 in Tokyo, 7 in Rio, 11 in London, 12 in Beijing, 18 in Athens (host), 11 in Sydney, 14 in Atlanta, 9 in Barcelona, 8 in Seoul, 7 in Los Angeles...

We will definitely have the lowest amount of sailors on our Olympic team in many decades, but Tsortanidis coming so close here (and also a decent showing from Kokkalanis) gives me hope that we can still qualify a few sailors for Paris.

Of course all the category changes since Tokyo did not help us. We were in 6 events in Tokyo and the only one which stayed the same was women's laser radial, and our athlete there is now competing for Portugal...

    • As a Habs fan, I'm sorry on a personal level that they're not going to Italy. But both Caufield and Hutson have been tearing it up since the roster was announced, and they are playing in front of Guerin twice to show him what he's missing. As a Canadian hockey fan, I'm also fine with these decisions. Never get in the way of your enemy making a mistake.

    • The Irish Luge Federation has gone to CAS    - The Irish Luge Federation (ILF) has filed an appeal against the International Luge Federation (FIL), challenging a FIL decision on 26 January 2026 concerning Luge athlete Ms Elsa Desmond (Ireland). The Appellant argues that the FIL unlawfully deprived the IFL of a qualifying place for the 2026 OWG by failing to allocate a remaining qualification place and unlawfully allocating qualification places to athletes granted Individual Neutral Athlete (AIN) status.   The ILF requests that CAS declare a failure to allocate them a qualifying place in violation of the FIL Qualification System. It also requests that CAS order the FIL to allocate a qualification place to the Olympic Federation of Ireland to enter an athlete into the women’s singles luge event for the 2026 OWG. - from a CAS press release
