Men’s 71kg - Wanderson de Oliveira :BRA defeats Aidan Walsh :IRL on points

you can see the fight here as an Irish journalist streamed it on twitter

Am afraid Oliveira will be the last game for the :CZE Bartl. But sometimes, you never know. Olympic qualification might be high motivating. But de Oliveira has bronze from last year WCH ..... Let's see.

Bad day for the African nations as we lose the last of the boxers from :ALG:SEN and :ETH.

We also lose :KIR whose only boxer is out without throwing a punch.

Miroslava Jedináková made it to the Semifinals in the W -60kg.

Saturday she will face Chelsey Heinen of :NED, The winner of the bout will qualify to the Olympics, the loser will have one more chance in the Small Final. (Remember, Slovakia did never qualify in Womens Boxing under the five rings before. Would be absolutely amazing if she could do it and rewrite the history of our sport, but, it will be very difficult and she will need definitely also some good luck on her side)

Relax man. You still have Anastasia Kovalchuk and Yurii Zakhareiev who were the boxers who were likely to win a quota in the first place. Sure the draw had opened up for Zamotayev with Molina losing and you have had a couple of dissapointing loses but this tournament is still young. If you end up with 2 quotas thats a good result and how the rest of it went doesn't matter that much. (Zakhareiev does still has a very tough path of course)

And Kovalchuk :UKR lost to Ferchichi :TUN with split decision 2:3 in W54.

from 29:28 in favour to 27:30 against.

I have not seen the fight yet.

Women's 57Kg :USA Alyssa Mendoza def. :JPN Satsuki Yoshizawa (Looks like match was stopped in second round with Yoshizawa injured - disappointing for her as she had taken the first round 3-2)

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
    • Here's my calculations of the quotas. I believe you are correct about Italy having 3 quotas in men's singles.   Men's Singles   3 Quotas: 2 Quotas: 1 Quota:   data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw==   Women's Singles   3 Quotas: 2 Quotas: 1 Quota:     Men's Doubles   2 Quotas: 1 Quota:     Women's Doubles   1 Quota:
