Nothing, wrestling world ranking is a joke, someone just sits and determines this ranking , there is no criteria about it.

there will be no seeding in wrestling only 2015 world finalists will be separated and will have a bye in 1st round. they wll use blind draw for the rest.

that's terrible......2 big favourites can basicly fight in first round

of course it happens always in wrestling, 4 years ago in London we had unbelievably unbalanced draw at 66 and 85 freestyle which helped some wrestlers winning undeserved medals.

actually this is the first time they are using some kind of seeding system. that's good for the start

but if they want to have a proper ranking like Judo and Taekwondo they have to make top wrestlers to compete in more than 1-2 events per year which is not possible at the moment since everybody cuts a lot of weight. (at least 6-7 kilos) that will be revolutionary change in wrestling . Lalovic once said he is thinking about such an idea to force wrestlers to not cut weight.

I think another issue would be regarding nations with huge bench strength. For example, Iran may send 3 different wrestlers in same weight category to World Championships, Asian Championships and World Cup. All 3 wrestlers might perform really well, but still all 3 might be ranked below a wrestler who participates in all 3 events and does only okay.

UWW website has the name of all registered wrestlers , there are some interesting changes comparing to what we had/expected

57kg:

Yang Kyong-il instead of Jong for PRK !!! :yikes: Yang was retired as far as I knew but apparently he is back !

Kazakhstan also registered a new name Nurislam SANAYEV instead of Sanaa. but after a bit of research apparently he is the same person just with a new name ! lol after all he is originally from Russia

USA is sending Daniel Dennis who won their trials over Ramos, Haji Aliyev is also there as expected

65kg

only Iran and Turkey are changing their wrestlers, we already knew that, Mustafa Kaya in place of Yakup Gor and Meisam Nassiri instead of our injured gold medal hope Ahmad Mohammadi :(

74kg

no change at all but India has to change Yadav because of doping.

oops, I forgot we changed our wrestler here, Yazdani junior in place of Ghasemi.

86kg

the only change is Sharifov in place of Khatiyev but we already knew that !

97kg

Iran, Russia and Ukraine are sending new wrestlers but again we knew that

125kg

no change, the only question was about Ukraine, and they decided to send Zaseyev over Khotsianovski, both of those guys won the quota if you remember ! :d

59kg:

wow ! Korea is sending a new name Lee Jung-baik ! what happened to that Kim guy who threw everybody at the worlds qualifiers ?!!!

Russia is also sending Maryanyan and not Labazanov despite all news we heard. Mingiyan Semenov (but with his twin brother's name) won the quota for Russia

66kg

only Russia had a change here, Albiev instead of Surkov, we knew that

75kg

no change

85kg

Chakvetadze instead of Mishin as expected but Egypt also registered a new name apparently, even though I'm not sure . Arabic names are confusing sometimes.

98kg

interestingly Belarus registered two names here, Hrabovik and Dzienichenka !

and Hungary also registered the veteran Balasz Kiss instead of Varga who won the quota.

130kg

few expected changes, Brazil is using their naturalized Armenian guy instead of poor Jaoude. Iran and Russia made a change here, Semenov and Babajanzadeh.

Where did you find these entries?

I didn't know they were allowed to do that at the Olympics..it's like a reserve so that they can still choose who'll actually fight?

Yup. According to NOC in Belarus, they selected Dzeinichenka over Hrabovik.

That's the problem because we have only 1 major event a year, some countries take continental championships serious, in Asia, most countries don't.

for having a proper ranking, we should have some Grand Prix events, when all top wrestlers come and participate. which is not possible at the moment for the reason I already explained, they cut weight a lot. the only solution is having the weight-in 1-2 hours before the competition forcing them to not cut weight. at the moment when for example you watch a 65kg match, both wrestlers are actually 71-72 kilos at least ! because they had the weight-in one day before the competition.

    • Slovakia is technically returning through Czechia :)
    • We've been told that during the past 3 tournaments as well. There won't be many opportunities left. While I obviously believe they can do something big this year, it will be crucial not to screw up the quarterfinal game from the very beginning.
    • Italy will boycott the Azeri stage for protest against the international federation.
    • Likely for Tannheimer, quite unlikely for Galmace Paulin. She's far from being assured to even start in the WC before turning 20. Basically she'd have to get a spot this season, which could actually happen if she takes the extra-ticket at the JWCH. Anyway I don't see her making her way to gold in Oslo. Tänglander has a few seasons to do it, we'll see.       Quite surprisingly so, indeed. Barring her horrendous finish Richard would have made it 2 in one go. We should have some more names in the list in 2025.
    • There are some of Slovakia's finest young squads at the World Juniors in recent years
    • Alpine skiing also we have a lot of problems: the men's team is very weak and has been winning a few podiums a season for several years and the our best skier- Dominik Paris is 35. We still have a strong women's team but 3 of the 4 leaders are over 30 (Goggia, Brignone, Curtoni) and Bassino is 28. Another 2 years and we will have the same problem as the men's. There is basically no cross-country skiing without Pellegrino for many years, biathlon is based on 2 individuals with one of them has a 35 years. Vittozzi's injury was enough and we haven`t a single podium this season after 3 stages of the World Cup. As for 1 year to the home games the situation isn`t optimistic.
    • Hail to the Reds... Commanders. First time since 1991 Washington QB has thrown 5 TD passes in a game (which isn't all that improbable in the modern game alas Dan Snyder...)
    • Italy is much better in alpine skiing, in The end all Nations have a Limited Talent Pool. Norway is far better than Sweden/Finland in Cross-Country skiing, alpine skiing and Biathlon, but Sweden/Finland are far better in ice Hockey.  Great Britain wins far more medals than Germany At Summer olympics, but GB is also inexistant in Winter Sports and Most popular Team Sports (Volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Ich Hockey).
    • Thanks, great stat! Tannheimer wont turn 20 until August 2025, so she has The whole Season To Join Kristiansen and Neuner. Too Bad that she was ill this week. I think Galmace Paulin and Tänglander could also do it. I think Grotian (born 2004) is The First female Biathlete born after 1999 To make a World Cup Podium. On The Mens side multiple Athletes (Perrot, Giacomel, Uldal) have already done it.   E. Öberg was 22 and a half when she First won.  Dahlmeier was 21 and a half.   Edit: Grotian only narrowly missed The Podium in The Individual at The 2024 World Championships when she was still  19 year old.
