I am starved for any real news, so here are sort of interesting things.

Tatiana Akimova has been brought back into the Russian team.

Czech biathletes took part in a roller ski race.  Good to see anything happening.

Well, the Baltic Biathlon cup stage 1 is going to start next weekend, but yeah, there's not going to be too much hype around it :d

Edit: To elaborate more, on the 31st there's going to be a shooting competition as well as a sprint + cross country running whilst on the 1st of August there will be a sprint + roller ski

Australia were going to try to have events, but did cancel the Victorian Biathlon Championships this weekend.  They have also cancelled the Australian Championships next month.

That's too bad, it'd have been a nice chance for a tiny bit of extra attention for Jill Colebourn and Jeremy Flanagan. Assuming the latter is still active.

Anyone know if the Norwegian rollerski/biathlon race that usually happens in August is going to happen?  I can not remember the name to look it up.

Interesting post on biathlon23 today.  I know many of you subscribe to it, but the discussion of shorter races, mirrors what a lot of views are on this board as well.

just a ranking event to assign a number probably.  No WC form to go on, and with a narrow track there’ll be a small advantage to being at the front.

So Lahti is going to be the opening of the new season, as it takes the one weekend from Ostersund.

I wonder, if they are going to push of having 10 rounds/resorts from now on, or is it because Beijing test event has to be put in there.

    • I have reported this again and they said it should be fixed now, please let me know if you are still facing issues.
    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
