Do we have any ideas on draw potential groups for the Olympics?

there's no draw in volleyball

it's only about the world ranking (serpentine system is used)

:ITA lost outside hitter Elena Pietrini for at least the entire Summer 2024 (VNL, but also Olympics)

official reason is still undisclosed, but it should be related to her well known back problems (she might need surgery)

Adding onto that, right now the pools would look something like this

Pool A: :FRA:ITA:CHN:KEN

Pool B: :TUR:USA:SRB:CAN

Pool C: :BRA:POL:JPN:DOM

:THA beat :DOM 3-1 :yikes::yikes::yes

Eve is back for week 2, but still no Brenda or de la Cruz. Still, after coming off a loss to South Korea (prior to that match they were on a 30 match losing streak at VNL), with South Korea scoring 20 more points in that match, this is a huge surprise.

A guaranteed quarterfinal place for :FRA , because they play against Kenia. Don't like the fact France is seeded 1st.

It isn't classic serpentine system. Groups will be drawn as below:

Gr. A

Seed 1 (France)

Seed 4, 5 or 6

Seed 7, 8 or 9

Seed 10, 11 or 12

Gr. B

Seed 2

Seed 4, 5 or 6

Seed 7, 8 or 9

Seed 10, 11 or 12

Gr. C

Seed 3

Seed 4, 5 or 6

Seed 7, 8 or 9

Seed 10, 11 or 12

It's good decision. It would be unfair France and Kenya in the same group. Drawing while VNL Finals (men).

Where did you find out that information?

    • How wonderful!   I met the national rowing (and beach rowing) coach of EST/LTU/LAT on the way to ice hockey one day, who's Canadian by the way. I also flew home on the same flight as JC Schoonmaker's mom and friends, so we chatted for a bit.
    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
