Someone show me, when the other acts have all embraced a competitor like this.

I’d go with the multiple artists that embraced Nemo during voting :p

Ugh...

What did Croatia actually do to have any jury appeal?

Outstanding vocals? Nah

Outstanding visuals? Nah

Catchy song? Depends on who you ask, honestly

Crowd love just like Finland last year? Yeah

The juries definitely feel the outside pressure and are swayed in their votes, if Croatia wasn't this much hyped by the people from day 1, I am nearly certain that we wouldn't even see them in the top 10 of the jury vote. Kaarijaa at least had delivered a very visually entertaining performance. Maneskin stood out with their freedom and charisma on stage + had a radio friendly entry, that was targeted towards an international market and not just Eurovision. Ring ding daga ding for three minutes is Eurovision just as much as Keiino is and it does not have broad pop appeal, hence, can't really expect to dominate a jury vote, where other musicians tend to gravitate towards solid vocal performances and visual strength.

If you actually want to win Eurovision in this day and age, you definitely need to have both the jury and the televote support. You can't just go all in on the televote and expect to destroy everyone around you.

Taste in music is very subjective.
It was clear that Croatia will struggle with juries. In the end 3rd place was even a surprise. But Switzerland winning with so much difference is a big surprise too, as it not a song for the “masses”

and if we follow your explanation how do you explain jury points to UK? Thankfully Europe is not deaf and awarded them 0 points.

"The real winner!"

Ugh, puh-lease. Don't get me wrong, I voted for Croatia with a reason of course, but let's not pretend it would be the only 'real' winner :p

With Croatia winning, people would complain that 'yet another clown show' won or something.

Never said juries didn't have flaws. There is a lot of cultural, political voting there too, but the juries definitely balance out the craziness and total randomness of the public vote. I think that second place for Croatia is amazing and that they highly overachieved with this, probably due to there not being many memorable songs this year that people could gravitate towards.

Probably even because Finland's "No Rules" didn't get the audience appeal vote and NL's disqualification really helped out Croatia as well, I think, it definitely would've stolen their points more, rather than the Swiss.

As for the UK, well, I can only say that the juries judged what was performed yesterday. Perhaps there were some fans of Troye Sivan's "Rush" in the jury. Having been in the music industry for over a decade, I can somewhat predict which performances the juries tend to gravitate towards, because they are my people and I think similarly to them in most of the cases. Although, the UK wouldn't have been in my top 10 if I was selected to be a jury member.

I really respect my peers that they weren't scared off by the bold choice of Ireland and actually awarded them more points than the televote. Really really glad they recognised Armenia too. Although, I thought that Serbia and Lithuania might've ended up a bit higher in the jury vote, I believe that Croatia's jury score was somewhat inflated, because jurors might've been worried from last year about the public opinion and felt somewhat hassled to vote for Croatia simply because of their 52% odds.

Good time to remind everyone that Kaarija got 60 less points from the jury than Croatia.

Switzerland being just 4th in the 1/2 and Netherlands almost winning it. That DQ played a big factor. You would wonder how many points they would have stolen from Switzerland, especially with the juries.

I  disagree with your statements.
You are a nice singer, but doesn’t make you an expert of esc. Neither am I. But you are overrating your knowledge clearly.

but need to sleep now. Good night.

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
    • Today I unpacked some of the boxes in which we have put my way too many books to move to our house, and I came across these beauty's I hadn't seen for a while     Absolutely recommended, tough to get for a decent price, but they are such an interesting read with lots of very interesting little stories! Still looking for at least 1900, 1904 and 1906, but not really in the right moment to spend money on that now, so the wait goes on
    • Which I guess is part of why unfortunately 'our' first wild card attempt of the season was rejected last week
    • The next chapter in the Krasnobaeva saga is upon us.   Looks like  Armenia have cut ties with her after only a few weeks. A person from their Federation has said, that they won't continue the relationship, because of her unprofessional and rude attitude towards the coaches and other officials. That includes: - having no respect to the coaches and their advise; - training without any motivation; - stops doing the routine and throws objects without any reason; - just lays on the floor and ignores the music.   When this was escalated with her mother, she mentioned that "Elvira has a strong temper and she was the same in Bulgaria and they tolerated her". Which of course is complete BS. If anyone attempted this shit here, they would be thrown out immediately.   And now  are wanting from her mother to return all finances they gave them, which she is refusing, so they will probably sue them. They will also inform other RG Federations about this situation, so they don't hire them.   My 2 cents on this is most likely Krasnobaeva was happy in BG and was forced out by her mother, so now she is sabotaging the move and be done with it.
    • Honestly Ruka is my favourite World Cup event of the whole season. Everybody is there. Later on there is always someone who skips one weekend or another . Not everybody takes part in Tour de ski. But here everyone shows up.
