There is a national qualification. The best shooters from this qualification will compete at the World Cups in Rio and Munich, where the best and depending on the numbe rof quotas second best will qualify for the Olympics.

If, for example, Engleder qualifies in both rifle events, it's possible that the additional quta place will go to Karsch.

In two World Cup meets, how will you select the best and second best German shooters in each individual event (depending on the number of quotas) who are eligible to qualify for the Games? When they collect the number of points at their respective shooting events, will their scores be determined by getting the average between the two meets or the combined total?

How come rifle prone specialists Daniel Brodmeier and Henri Junghanel are the only members of the German team to assure selection according to DOSB? I've just seen the list of shooters with MQS in ISSF website and there are 10 Germans in the 50 m rifle prone.

In shooting though the seeding is  very ephemeral .............  by the next scores which should be out this  month end  many of the top few players would go down the order and new players would go forward ..................  so seeding do not necessarily show the best shooters

:CRO SHOOTING TEAM

  • Giovanni Cernogoraz - Men's trap

  • Josip Glasnović - Men's trap

  • Petar Gorša - Men's rifle events (AR60, FR60PR, FR3X40)

  • Snježana Pejčić - Women's rifle events (AR40, STR3X20)

  • Valentina Gustin? - Women's air rifle (AR40)

  • Tanja Perec? - Women's rifle three positions (STR3X20)

  • Marija Marović - Women's pistol events (AP40, SP)

I just noticed that Croatian female shooters outnumbered the males for Rio 2016, as compared to the previous Games. Do you think this list is officially final, dcro? I was assuming if Croatia had an opportunity to trade a spot for any of the rifle events among the females with Bojan Durkovic in the men's rifle.

It is official. We will not trade place. Our policy in shooting has always been that athletes that have earned the quota themselves are selected for Olympics.

Sorry, but mentioning Engleder is wrong. She would have won an Olympic Quota place. It's just that two other Germans won a quota place earlier, which is why they were mentioned by name here. This was done not to count an athlete twice in the Olympic qualification, not because this is *their" quota place.

Because they were the only one who fulfilled the German National standards in their discipline. Therefore they are already qualified.

Not necessarily. For example Germany has won two quota places in womens 50 m rifle 3 positions, so Engleder still could qualify if she beats at least one of those 2 athletes who won the quota places at the german qualification event.

There are still some very unlucky athletes:

- Durkovic (Croatia) is 5th in mens 50 m rifle prone, but Croatia doesnt have a quota place in this event, so they have 2 options:

1) Exchange quota places: I dont think that they will do it, because it would be unfair to take away the quota place from one of their other athletes.

2) Durkovic could try to "steal" the quota place in mens 10 m air rifle from Gorsa and then he could compete in mens 10 m air rifle and mens 50 m rifle prone, but that also would be unfair for Gorsa.

- Mohd (India) is 6th in mens double trap, but India doesnt have a quota place in this event, so they have basically only one option (assuming that Mohd wont try to take Indias quota place in mens trap):

They have to exchange quota places, otherwise Mohd wont be able to compete in Rio.

- Karsch (Germany) is 9th in womens 25 m pistol, but Germany doesnt have a quota place in this event. The good thing is that Pfeilschifter (who won a quota place in womens 10 m air rifle) retired, so we could exchange her quota place without taking it away from someone else. We still have 3 more quota places in womens rifle events, so Gschwandtner (4th in womens 50 m rifle 3 positions), Engleder (2nd in womens 50 m rifle 3 positions) and Gauß (current world champion in womens 50 m rifle 3 positions and 5th in world ranking) all could go to Rio. The sad thing is that at least one of them wont be allowed to compete in womens 50 m rifle 3 positions (only 2 athletes for every nation are allowed). In addition to that this would mean that Kreutzer (who won one of the quota places) and Beer (who won the last world cup in womens 50 m rifle 3 positions, although it was her first world cup ever in this event :yikes:) wont be allowed to compete in Rio.

We have a similar situation in mens 50 m rifle 3 positions (China is ranked 1st, 4th and 5th), mens 10 m air rifle (China is ranked 1st, 2nd and 10th), mens 50 m pistol (China is ranked 2nd, 4th and 10th), mens 25 m rapid fire pistol (China is ranked 5th, 7th and 8th) and womens 25 m pistol (China is ranked 1st, 3rd and 8th).
