Regarding the swimming they have added the 800m for men and the 1500m for women so cutting numbers would be odd. -

Has the quota for Canada been offically confirmed anyway, or is that just a rumour? I can't find anything on google about it (nor the suggested quota for England's athletes someone posted earlier). 12 per gender would make sense (it's roughly what Canada sent to Birmingham). 12 overall seems dumb. -

In the past few games, Canada (and other nations) was given an overall athlete quota which they then divided it through the various sports. -

Actually now that I look at the numbers, it makes even less sense. Almost the entire reduction of 4800 athlete down to 3000 is explained by the removal of events. There's no reason to halve our swim team, considering we likely have the third strongest team
