Former pope Benedict XVI has died this morning. It's not like I've followed those things a lot, but a quick read suggests he didn't exactly help in making the world a better place...Francis seems to be doing a better job at that.

Anyhow, rest in peace.

Human bodies officially permitted to be used as fertilizer in New York state. Hey, ecology needs to make more money after all :p

Makes perfect sense though. People should absolutely be free to have this as a choice, it quite literally doesn't harm anyone or anything and has basically no disadvantages (unlike cremation, burial and so on).

Agreed, using dead material as fertilizer is/should be absolutely normal, without this there probably wouldn't be any life on earth today. Reusing material should be the standard, sadly it isn't in most areas. As long as it is cheaper to just buy something new it probably won't change (and the earth will turn even more into a giant dumpster). Without the need to "preserve" human bodies we also don't need cemeteries anymore -> More space for important things. Maybe churches could make some money by turning their cemeteries into fields to grow vegetables ...

Not allowing things like this or assisted suicide makes only sense from a religious point of view, but not from an ethical point of view. Hopefully this will be another step towards "normalizing" humans (just one kind of animal that considers itself above nature/evoluion). Hopefully we will have things like free assisted suicide for everyone, widespread genetic engineering to optimize humans (for example getting rid of genetic disease) or all new kinds of stem-cell therapy very soon. Another interesting topic could be using human feces as a resource.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Because that works so well in North Korea, the world’s most progressive country.

What?

in North Korea human feces are already massively used as fertilizers right now, because the Country doesn't have the industrial/chemical ones following UN sanctions.

and actually, they were/are used also in many other places where poverty is at the highest level.

not here to explain the whole drama, but you can easily find in the net what the human feces used as fertilizer do to human body.

just search for health conditions of people defecting from North Korea.

Like all leftists, our friend is very good.at lofty declarations of principle, not so good at practical reality.  I’m presuming he’s not volunteering to do the gathering & spreading.

Difference is, here we have quite a lot more resources to take our time in doing all kinds of extensive research and see if there is any good way to use it. Human feces won't run out, after all. It won't save the planet, but no single thing will, and if you've got the resources to study potential benefits in it's use, why not? Even if it doesn't lead to anything useful, it is definitely worth the research.

Plenty of examples here of ways in which it can be used in a useful (and safe) way.

    • Interesting (optimistic) predictions for GB. Don‘t See Them winning 5 golds (more than China and as many as Canada). I think 3 golds are more Realistic (Brookes + 2 in curling/skeleton). Especially gold for Bankes seems To be a rather optimistic prediction, given that Casta is 11 years younger and just beat Bankes.

    • I don’t think that Scattolo would be slower/less competitive than multiple of your current starters, so as an Italian Coach I would Definitely give her a Chance in The World Cup.
    • Will be interesting To see if younger athletes Like Grotian or Tannheimer can keep their skiing speed After The christmas Break. In The Past younger athletes Like Grotian or Elvira Öberg often Lost their Speed over The Break.   Also interesting To see that Julia Kink is faster than Selina Grotian was last year, so hopefully Next year she will reach The Level that Grotian currently Has. I feel that Kink so far didn‘t get The results she would have Been Capable of.
    • Very early predictions for Team Germany: Julia Tannheimer will become The youngest ever Olympic medalist in biathlon Selina Grotian will become The third youngest ever Olympic medalist in biathlon Finn Sonnekalb will become The third youngest Olympic medalist in men’s Speed skating
