Sat Day 8 03.08

118. ARCHERY - W Individual

1. Alejandra Valencia MEX

2. Kang Chae-young KOR

3. An San KOR

CZE world champion loses in 1/32 round this time.

119. ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS - M Floor

1. Carlos Yulo PHI

2. Artem Dolgopyat ISR

3. Kazuki Minami JPN

A lot of mistakes made by other finalists (including a relatively small one by Dolgopyat) leaves space for Yulo here.

120. ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS - W Vault

1. Simone Biles USA
2. Rebeca Andrade BRA

3. Yeo Seo-jeong KOR

Alexa Moreno MEX sadly 4th again, like in Tokyo.

121. ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS - M Pommel Horse

1. Rhys McClenaghan IRL

2. Max Whitlock GBR

3. Ahmad Abu Al-Soud JOR

Probably greatest ind apparatus final in Paris. Level of competition is astonishing here.

1. Qiu Qiyuan CHN

2. Kaylia Namour ALG

3. Shilese Jones USA

Namour makes history here.

125. ATHLETICS - Mixed 4x400m Relay

1. Netherlands

2. United States

3. Great Britain

Femke Bol doesn't hit the floor this time.

126. ATHLETICS - W 100m

1. Shericka Jackson JAM

2. Sha'Carri Richardson USA
3. Marie-Josee Ta Lou CIV

First great controversy of the games. Jackson and Richardson finish with the same time. Jackson announced as a winner but Team USA make a protest because photo-finish shows a gap so small (or no gap at all as NBC says) that Phelps vs Cavic one can be considered as extremely large. Protest unsuccessfull though. US Team gets mad. Mr. Bach speaks some stupid words at press conference. Richardson crying a lot but finally says - see you at 200 and then we will destroy Jamaica in the relay. Ewa Swoboda smoothly in a final this time, no unnecessary semi-final drama. And then 7th with nice PB. Ta Lou eventually gets her ind medal partly due to JAM controversial false-start in the semis. Uff...

127. ATHLETICS - M Decathlon

1. Leo Neugebauer GER

2. Pierce LePage CAN

3. Karel Tilga EST

Too many DNFs, Kevin Mayer among them which leaves 3rd place wide open and it goes to Estonia.

1. Tadej Pogacar SLO

2. Christophe Laporte FRA

3. Wout van Aert BEL

Pogacar - after disappointing 2nd place in TDF and happy 2nd place in ind TT here - goes solo on the last lap. Van der Poel catches him in Amstel-style but then crashes 3km to go. Laporte wins sprint from a bunch of 8 riders.

@Josh zheng won’t get medal . Hell be 4th 😉

i think someone will make a surprise and come to top 4 in m singles

imagine all the hype when China have a male tennis player in ATP top ten

Still don’t think Zheng will finish in fourth. If anyone from China were to come that close to a medal it would be either Qinwen Zheng (women’s singles) or Xu Yifan/Yang Zhaoyuan (women’s doubles).
