Okay since you kind of called Japan.  Let me ask you about the 2 games that matter tomorrow.

Ukraine must win to advance.  Any trouble winning over Estonia ?

Your take on Romania vs Great Britain ?

Frankly, I don´t think there should be any surprises in these matches.

The day off yesterday certainly helped the Ukrainians. They know what is at stake today. And their nature is always the same, They will go for it at full gas, I don´t believe a second that they would be able to underestimate Estonia today. Maybe some small nervousness can tie hands at the beginning of the match, but the significant difference in quality should prevail by the end. No, it´s hard to expect any other result than a Ukrainian victory.

The Brits are the favorite too. And I think they will make it too. The Romanians need a hell of big day of their goalie and perhaps tactical substitutions, sending their checking line against the GBR first line regularly with anti-hockey system in an attempt to make them hate the game and eliminate their power. I do not see any other way to reverse the British triumph :p

Estonia had the edge on Ukraine in 2018 and 2019, but since then Ukraine has been better.  How fun would it be to have OT in that game?

Romania has no real chance against GB; in recent history against this level of opponent (Division 1A or better) they have one win (against Lithuania) and not many games that were even close.

    • Discussion Threads are moving from an annual cycle to a quadriennium cycle, and being merged with the Olympic Qualification Thread for the following Olympic Games.   Example: Alpine Skiing Discussion | Qualification to Winter Olympic Games Milano-Cortina 2026   You might see the downside of this so I anticipate the benefits of it   - There will be no need to open discussion threads every new year, but just every 4; - In the past we had some discussion threads very active and some with very few replies. Having also the general Olympic qualification discussion in the thread will guarantee each thread to be active during the Olympic quadriennium; - We will still have separate threads for single Olympic qualification events, so these threads are only for general discussion related or unrelated to Olympic qualifications; - In the past, we had to move lots of posts between Discussion Threads and Olympic qualification threads. This now will not be necessary anymore because there is a single thread for both.
    • OK this is getting weird but do you honestly believe those figures? Do you actually believe that the Winter Olympics is popular in countries that don’t have snow at winter? (At the same time as the IOC claims they need to include the likes of breakdancing to make the summer games more appealing)   If you do, then fair enough
    • Wrong (again). Estimated viewership for Beijing 2022 was 2 billion, while for Tokyo it was 3 billion, which isn't a considerable difference for "only 30 countries care for the Winter Olympics." Add the February slot when everyone is at work and all the football leagues are in full force, compared to July/August vacations and the numbers are even more impressive for an event, which allegedly few people care about.
    • At the end of the day who knows what the situation will be like in 4 years time, there could be a new sprint star that is neither him or Lavreysen for all we know.    The Australian team sprint squad was on a downward trend anyway because Glaetzer is clearly past his best which was easily seen at these games.     GB cycling obviously saw the medals he won, his talent and birth country, got into contact with him and gave him a more lucrative deal. Track cycling is a bigger/more important sport there and their cyclists get more funding.    Because if it was always his ‘dream’ why didn’t he make the move earlier on? He has been competing since 2019    And also can they please take Raygun aswell? I beg
    • Ellesse Andrews grandfather is Scottish and he got asked if there's a possibility Andrews could join GB (as a joke) thanks to the Richardson bombshell on NZ radio. He replies, "Like hell she is, I'm Scottish not British". Just to add the grandfather is from Glasgow, one area that is pro independence. Hahaha got to laugh.
    • In alpine skiing one can still actually qualify through the points gained in whichever race?   They abandoned that in cross-country skiing, and rightfully so
    • So if you were a Winnipeg Jets fan in the 90's, you became an Arizona Coyotes fan despite it being far away and having nothing to do with Winnipeg anymore, and now that transferred to being a fan of a random other team that happens to be HC Utah, the continuation of the original Jets? Or if you were a Jets fan in the 90's you simply stopped being a fan of anything, until the current Jets came around and one became a fan of that?
    • Yeah, but I agree with that (basically)     I was just saying some sports simply aren't 'summer sports' or 'winter sports', the time of year in which they happen to be held due to scheduling don't necessarily make them so.
