The most gold medals that China can get is four in my opinion, I just don't see them winning in men's doubles.

And even 4 gold medals is only realistic if  everything goes completely perfect :p

I find it quite surprising that China has only one top seed (in mixed doubles)! Though I still think they will top badminton medal tally (for starters even I know that Lee Chong Wei just can't win gold :p).

Badminton has a lot of competition this time. No sure winners!!!

Especially in women's single, you have Li Xuerui/Marin/Nehwal/Intanon and a lot more who all have a good chance of winning.

I'll try to update the scores ASAP, if I'm not stuck to the screen :d

I'm watching Badminton because ATM the other sport is Golf.

Kim/Kim win first set 21-14

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
