What is the final list of qualifiers in badminton.

Do we have the group stages before the knock-outs again..

Qualified athletes list: http://totallympics.com/index.php?/topic/213-badminton-qualification-for-summer-olympic-games-2016/&page=1

And yes, we still use the round-robin group stage before the knock out round

Chinese team has confirmed their badminton squad:

MS: Chen Long, Lin Dan

WS: Li Xuerui, Wang Yihan

MD: Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan, Chai Biao/Hong Wei

WD: Luo Ying/Luo Yu, Yu Yang/Tang Yuanting

XD: Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei, Xu Chen/Ma Jin

With the Luo twins selected, it means Tian Qing must stay at home. Plus, one WS quota is abolished (because Zhao Yunlei only play in XD) which means :LTU Akvile Stapusaityte won't be competing at the Olympics

Wow, they are allowed to make changes and thus kick out Lithuanian player less than 20 days before Rio?

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
