Road Cycling 2020 Discussion Thread

Terrible crash just now in the sprint of the Scheldeprijs. One guy went down hard, I think someone else hit him on the head when he was down already. A few riders sitting and standing here and there, but one guy from the Riwal team was quickly shown just lying on his back motionless with medics attending to him and blood visible on his face...

Replay showed his head hitting the ground and his helmet just 'jumping' away immediately, he was hit after that...

The crash, happening because Ackermann makes a dumbass move. Logically it's just waiting for him to be DQ'ed, but I wonder when something will actually be done. Every single sprinter does it..

Ugh.

At least there's a double Mont Ventoux in it. And again a rather limited number of time trial kilometers, as is getting usual nowadays.

Back to ye old flat stages I see :( At least we get to visit Andorra in a major event for once.

This year’s route was so good. It created fantastic racing. This map doesn’t leave me with a lot of hope for next year’s route.

Sad story, he was always a real hard-worker who did at least get a few great moments, notably in the 2015 Het Nieuwsblad.

Former British champion Ian Stannard has been forced to retire because of rheumatoid arthritis.

There's a ton of more than excellent riders still without contract for next year. Bahrain-McLaren managed to ignore all that and instead, do this.

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
