19-12 win over Kenya to start off the tournament. Not exactly the best of wins, the Canadians were quite sloppy and well off their best, but props to Kenya for making it a game.    Hopefully

Someone has to do a study on Canadian athletes and their fragile psyches.

Well, if we lose and fail to qualify it’d be just about the worst Olympic qualification period from my perspective. That’s how much it means to me. Thought qualification would’ve been a formality, never thought we’d be in this position.

I want them to win and qualify, because the more Canadian teams the better. But no way this team is challenging for medals in Paris. Sad, but true. Just like the 5x5 women's team.

Eh. I don’t agree with you on that one. If they qualify (big IF), they’ll certainly be contending for medals, along with Germany, Spain, Australia, France, United States, and China. Pretty much everyone except Azerbaijan. 
 

But yeah, the women’s team has no chance anymore.

      It's waaaay too expensive & inconvenient. Basically WOG minus the bobsleigh track & indoor arena for figure skating/hockey(which is the easy part of Olympic bid). Just won't happen anytime soon. Winter sports are too facility dependant and the entire alpine skiing requires a separate venue.

      It means that our pair will miss Olympics for sure. But I am happy for your pair. They won it fair and they deserve it. It always sad to see when your own sports bodies destroys dreams.

      Not religious, but I do celebrate Christmas because it's the time of excessive and delicious meals     I can't really think of any Dutch Christmas songs though, basically we hear Mariah Carey and WHAM! half the day and a collection of others the other half of the day

      The Technical director of the Dutch Olympic Committee has, using his discretionary powers, decided to include them in the team. He cites “extra-ordinary circumstances”, but has not stated what they are. The use of these powers is quite rare. They were used in 2022 to nominate an alpine-skier.
