Still no new website. I'm starting to wonder if the Opening ceremony will be held on August 5th, or will it be delayed too.

I am proud that there are no financial incentives for Team GB.

 

But to think winning an Olympic gold doesn't bring economic reward for British athletes is foolish! A good Olympic performance will garuntee generous funding for an athlete for the next Olympic cycles, plus widespread media coverage and potential sponsorship is the second hand financial reward.

 

Most Olympic medal winners also get some form of award, either MBE, OBE or CBE, some are even knighted (Sir Chris Hoy, Lord Coe, Sir Bradley Wiggins). So there are lots of rewards apart from a cash payout fir successful athletes.
