You can trust WA will follow suit on IOC and claim race walking needs some changes :dunno: Killing off 50k was obviously a huge mistake.

Perez gets the Spanish flag but ditches it as she still has one lap to go.

I think the only big mistake was that 20k became the Olympic distance. 35k should be the compromise between 20k and 50k. It would make sense to only have 1 male and 1 female race walking events, just like how we only have the Marathon outside of the stadium. And forget about the race walking relay nonsense.

Right, but we haven’t seen that scenario at all. I believe athletes can be disqualified if they don’t put forward a “full-faith effort” (at least that’s the case in many sports), so if athletes were to attempt that before the competition came to the “natural” conclusion they would likely be disqualified.

Which is ridiculous because there is no other event in sport where athletes choosing not to compete is deemed "natural" and "full-faith effort".

What would be so unnatural about skeet shooters wanting to stop the shoot-off for gold after 0, 2, 15, 150 additional targets with no resolve?

    • Here, the Masters is on national TV.  Are major golf tourneys in the USA shown in other places?   (I work at a private school that's just about an 80-minute drive from Augusta.  Many of my students are able to go watch the tournament in person.  I've never paid attention to golf until this year...it's a beautiful course!)

    • so, one of the most boring world cup stages ever has ended    if it wasn't for  and , winning 1 gold medal each, a  sweep would have come true, as they won all the remaining 8 gold medals (and a bunch of silver and bronze, too)    while some sports are brcoming more and more global, it looks that (rifle and pistol) shooting is going the other way round, it's becoming less and less global, with just 1 or 2 dominating Countries and a few others filling the (minor) gaps here and there, with always less Nations capable to win medals (only 12, out of 10 competitions) and even make the final    now the Rifle and Pistol world cup takes a break to allow most Continental championships to take place between the end of April and May.   It will be back in  Munich in the last week of May.   In the meantime, the Shotgun specialists will be on stage from May 2nd through May, 11th in  Almaty.
