Athletics WA World Championships 2023

Coe claimed on german TV that winning a medal in athletics is more difficult than winning a medal in any other olympic sport. What a stupid thing to say ...

Meanwhile on Eurosport Iwan Thomas is saying he doesn't believe anyone except for Hudson-Smith can be world champion next time. That's quite a thing to say in one of the most open events in athletics :d

well, not

:p

Yeah, only a fall or injury (or a crash with those golf cars) could have stopped her from winning this, on quality there was no way anyone was going to beat her. Arguably the most predictable gold of the entire championships :d (I forgot the prediction contest, but I assume basically everyone there had the Bol - Little combo :p)

Indeed, grandpa Hudson-Smith obviously doesn't have as much potential as guys like Ingvaldsen or the jamaican guy, not to mention that Gardiner will probably come back.

He only started his season last month due to achilies injury and that was just his 4th race of the year so hardly surprising that he didn't have the speed endurance that he needed to run back to back races at a global championship. Absolutely nothing for him to be ashamed of.

Pathetic performance compared to those of Ingebrigtsen. BBC will hopefully talk nonstop about Burger's embarrassing performance for the next 3 days.

Hope everyone in Asia is excited about their new 400m Hurdles record!

Probably about as excited as european fans will be if Hughes breaks the 200 m european record.

    • I have reported this again and they said it should be fixed now, please let me know if you are still facing issues.
    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
