Sport Climbing IFSC Olympic Games Qualifier 2019

Recommended Posts

finally, very good 4th place for :ITA Laura Rogora in the Bouldering section, which keeps her fully in contention for Sunday's Final and, above all, for the Olympic spot...:fingers:

tbh, I thought there would be a lot more 4T4Z at the end of today's Bouldering, but many girls found unexpected troubles here and there and somehow underperformed (if compared to the world cup standars we've seen earlier in the season)...

given the current situation, the Lead ranking would eventually decide also the final ranking of the girls, as many of the main contenders are grouped within a very narrow margin after 2 events...

Kaplina and Song will definitely drop down a lot of places, the 2 Japanese don't count for the Olympic race, Slovenia can only qualify 1 girl (they already have Garnbret among the girls who made it through the world championships earlier this year)...

so, 1 :SLO Slovenian between Rakovec and Krampl, :USA Condie, :FRA Chanourdie, :ITA Rogora, a second :FRA French woman between Gibert (heavy favourite) and Jaubert should be safe for the Olympic spot, meanwhile I guess there will be an interesting fight between :KOR Sa, :AUT Lettner and maybe also :CAN Yip for the last place on the plane flying to Tokyo next Summer...

France chances of having two quotas?

definitely yes, I'd be surprised if they don't get 2 spots (even if Gibert is a bit at risk in the Lead discipline, meanwhile the Korean Sa and the Austrian Lettner on paper could still overtake her)...

Jaubert has no chances, imho...

I really want to know what Susanti Rahayu had to say after this. She kept saying she is able to defeat the rival speed specialists in lead and bouldering

    • apparently the Japanese organizers rejected OCA's nice request    now OCA is ordering them to do so in a not-so-nice language https://oca.asia/media/attachments/memberships_subcommittee/5/Decision_-_103rd_OCA_EB_Meeting_5ypY8y4.pdf   the last line is very interesting   I knew this for a while, for example that's why Jujjtsu is included in all of OCA events (despite being the worst sport to watch) but good to see OCA admit this. so with the corrupt OCA you can buy your way in. how much they paid the OCA officials for this ?   OK I know Qatar is financially supporting Padel (and UAE is paying everything for Jujitsu) but who is behind Teqball?  ! I don't think Thailand can do that.
    • Important information on team Aerials.   There is no AIN`s team at the start list of the world cup despite of the fact that belorussians have enough athletes to have a team.   https://medias4.fis-ski.com/pdf/2026/FS/8119/2026FS8119SLF1.pdf
    • By the way. It looks like no AIN`s will be in biathlon by the start of the Olympics. Russians filed an appeal to CAS to get AIN statuses in biathlon. But IBU did not agree to have hearings with short procedure. So the decisons are not expected before the end of qulifying period. (FIS could do the same but its top-officials prefer to help russians be back as quick as possible).   I would like to see Dolidovich at the Games. Because she is a real refugee of the relatively high level.
