Friday´s WC U20 draw postponed indefinitely.

Man, For once :SVK did qualify somewhere... and at the end it even may end up by canceling the entire tournament

FIFA still not confirmed rumors about moving the tourney to :ARG under condition they will have a team there as well

The tournament already became a victim of Indonesian politics…

As 2024 is election year, politicians from the ruling party (incl. the Governor of Bali) issued statements rejecting Israeli team to show their appeals to the religious groups and boost their re-election chances.

This is probably the only time the ruling nationalist party and the Islamist parties have one voice in any matter…

Well, yes, that´s a pretty unfortunate situation now for sure :d Hopefully it will be solved somehow and the tournament will be played at the end

Yep, That´s never a good idea to elect to the governement Nationalist parties and/or Religious parties anywhere in the world

Indonesian president issued a statement that he and his men are “looking for solutions”, while reassuring that letting the Israeli team play has nothing to do with support to Palestinians.

As of now, the newly elected football federation president is on the way to FIFA HQ.

What does it have to do with then?

Well that’s what the protestors said… Letting Israel play = betraying Palestine and Islam.

Ironically, even the de-facto ambassador of Palestine for Indonesia said that they did not reject the Israelis playing in Indonesia. So the protestors think they are “more Palestine” than the Palestinians

it's really hard for Indonesian federation to throw all millions paid for hosting the tournament in garbage , especially Indonesia isn't like pakistan for example , the country would be on fire if such decision taken

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
