Yeah, I mean it's probably gonna be closer, but nobody is going to throw themselves down the hill in madman Hirscher style anymore :(

Yuasa once was someone who could go on a kamikaze run and actually have a half-decent time, but those times seem long gone :(

I have some hope for Goggia but even she seems to be less mega-aggressive nowadays :p

Seriously though, I'm never a big fan of one person dominating, but the way Hirscher sometimes burned down the entire course behind him and utterly destroyed his rivals was breathtaking to watch. I won't miss him dominating, but I will definitely miss those runs.

I remember Alberto Tomba and he was far more exciting to watch. Hirscher was flat out boring.

Hirscher had a personality of a wooden stick :dunno:

Luckily I wasn't talking about his behaviour outside of the course, which was nothing special indeed, so this is rather far besides the point.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
