:BRU joins the medal table with a bronze in pencak silat. However, they won that by virtue of low entries and good draw. Hopefully they can win a couple matches and get a few more medals in the coming days.

Also, on the topic of pencak silat, does any have a replay from yesterday. I believe it was broadcast, but I couldn’t find anything in a quick search…

Look for “EventSilat” channel on Youtube. The broadcast looks like taken from a CCTV camera but it shows the live scoring (and also Indonesian commentary since it is from Indonesian Silat Association)

The host wants to get a medal in badminton, so...

I think it’s an interesting concept at least. Leave the gendered team events (and individual events) for the powerhouses, but set aside one event for the developing programs.

I can at least respect the logic behind this attempt to boost medal counts, compared to leaving events off the program or adding a bunch of sports/events practiced almost exclusively in the host country.

It’s hard to not be romantic about sports when moments like that happen.

Secondly -  this Singapore site looks very good, has 3 live streams & lots of highlights you need

1. VPN set to Singapore

2. Username / password registration.

Seemingly neither are very strictly policed.  Highlights are a bit stir-fried :roflmao: ie chopped up into small bits. So you get one dish of 400m heats, one side order of shot put final, extra plate of 3000m steeplechase final etc etc.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
