ISR vs RSA also rescheduled for noon CET tomorrow...

ESP vs CZE is still without an official start time...probably it will be played only if it's going to have an influence on the final ranking of the tournament after the other 2 games to be played tomorrow at lunch time are over...

Baseball fights are the most ridiculous thing in sport.

And now I’ll watch that game :d

Well if we end up with a team composed of Americans who happen to be Jewish taking up one of only six Olympic quotas  in baseball I'd say this would be a public relations disaster for those arguing for the  ongoing inclusion of baseball in the Olympics .

The big question is how many of the team learnt the sport in Israel ?

I remember that there was a story that Greece toyed with the idea of fielding a ( field ) hockey team comprised of persons from the Greek diaspora who knew the game ( which is largely unknown in Greece ) for Athens 2004,

Fortunately it went nowhere . Somebody will always throw these ideas up, They should be ignored for the integrity of sport

Italy pretty much has just as many Italian-Americans on the team, and even Venezuelans, but I guess Israel is easy to hate (as always).

well, the Greeks in 2004 did that in Baseball and Softball (and normally they have a high rate of naturalized athletes in all the combat sports -and even in Basketball, which is supposed to be their most beloved national discipline after football)...

so, it would have been nothing strange nor new to them...

in any case, you have to make a difference between naturalized athletes (sometimes ligitimately, sometimes just bought by the various Countries) and those with the heritage of a certain Nation...

those people are actually Greeks rather than Italians rather than from any other Country in the world...

their blood is from their respective Nation...:pope:

and this is a way stronger connection with said Nations than the always fashionable ius soli, which in most cases doesn't mean anything, just a mere stay in a place you don't even like or understand or respect in all of its cultural and social expressions...only because it's economically convenient...:wall:

taking advantage of the Countrymen/women of the Diaspora is absolutely fair to me, it's a Nation's richness that they have all the moral, ethical and legal rights to take advantage of...

I have no complaints at all if a Country wins tons of medals thanks to their men/women who have found better conditions to live and practice sport in another place but then finally choose to represent the Country of their hearts, of their Fathers, of their Grannies and so on...

The answer is 0, but how exactly is it different with Chinese table tennis players playing for every possible country, there are were way more then 3 chinese table tennis players. And what about Qatar and their handball team? there are plenty of examples of athletes who go on to represent another country , if we stop israel we should stop everyone.

    • HA, shitty food indeed, however we bring something to the world that no arab countries do, Every big tech company working with israeli inventions, google israeli tech and medicine inventions, you'll be surprised, better put your phone down because both Apple and Google invest in israel
    • Gonna call your terrorist friends? Watch out for your pager!   We only killed when trying to get to Hammas that are hiding in civilian population, in Mosques, under hospitals, inside kitchens. The arab world is the one always trying to get into a fight, but every time they start something we knock them out and they start crying to the world, it's no longer working, we simply don't care. in 1948 we were attacked, we won, in 1967 we were attacked we won (while winning the Golan Heights and Sinai which we gave back 7 years later) and in October 7th your buddies decided to fuck around, so now they found out that we are not to be messed with, Iran is jumping now that Nasrallah's death will be avenged, well, i'm looking forward to that
    • They did all that with money of Mcdonalds/starbucks/coa cola ...shty food
    • and do not quote my comments again
    • They kill Palestinians all the time during the year from 1948 , steal their houses and richness , torture innocents in jail including kids , they created terrorism to destroy the area ...etc ..etc and they will stop til they kill everyone in this planet according to this telmoud  now world understand what Adolf did
    • No, it's not, because the other side are openly calling for extermination of Israel and jews, while, if given a chance we would love the whole region to be together and work together, on trade and other things   What do you think the ABRAHAM ACCORDS are? attempt to normalize the region, and if not for October 7th (or biden's election), then Saudi Arabia would've been a part of it. so 100000% Hammas and Hizballah are the bad guys , and even suggesting that Israel are not really shows that you don't understand the region and not truly know what's happening there, and rather parroting what you hear from the media or see on social media.   And if you think that it's a Netanyahu thing, it's not, not even close, the Israeli elected officials support it. Up until 2 months ago, the leader of the opposition Benny Ganz was in a unity government, Leaders of the left like Yair Lapid support the current work in Lebanon.
    • "We"     But yeah, just saying "oh its war, we are the good guys, just defending ourselves" isn't different to what the 'other side' says. Very plain, very simple: both Netanyahu and his cronies and the terrorists of Hamas, Hezbollah and so on have insane amounts of blood on their hands. They can try to wash it by saying "but the other guys are worse!", but that doesn't work.   Oh well, I don't believe in an afterlife, but if I did, I'd be happy knowing where these 'leaders' will end up, all in the same place.
    • What we did was a payback, we don't have a drop of blood on our hands, they started something October 7th, they thought the pressure from the world and USA will deter us, but it's not going to, we simply don't give a fuck anymore. The blood is on the hands of Hammas, Hizballah, Iran, Qatar and other terror enablers like our terrorist friend over here. This is WAR, and innocent people die in war. Unlike other wars the ratio of terrorists to civillians is much better then any other war.   The amazing pager operation was an example of how we target the terrorists specifically.   It's very easy for Hammas and Hizballah to stop the war in about 10 minutes, give up arms, release hostages and we will stop before the beginning of the hour, but they won't do that. So they will get everything that is coming to them.
    • Not sure where to post this, but Greece is rewarding all athletes who finished in the top 8 in Paris. 30.000 euros for gold medalists, 20.000 for silver, 15.000 for bronze, and 10.000 for athletes finishing 4th-8th. If you were part of a team, then you only get half the amount.   So this means: 30.000-Apostolos Christou (20.000 + 10.000), Miltiadis Tentoglou 15.000-Emmanouil Karalis, Dauren Kurugliev, Eleftherios Petrounias, Theodoros Tselidis 10.000-Kristian Gkolomeev, Theodora Gkountoura, Emmanouela Katzouraki, Stefanos Ntouskos, Stefanos Tsitsipas 7.500-each member of Fitsiou/Kontou and Gkaidatzis/Papakonstantinou teams 5.000-each member of Anastasiadou/Bourmpou, Malkogeorgou/Platanioti, men's basketball, men's water polo, and women's water polo teams   It's nothing extravagant like other countries do, but some nice bonuses for these athletes, except of course Tsitsipas and the men's basketball players which really don't need this money.
    • after some gazillion of years FC Sankt Pauli won a Bundesliga game   Worth a beer to me ! cheers folks
