I remember the one of 1999 (when I was 8), the last 100% eclipse that was visible here. Our neighbours and us were in our garden, watching with our special sunglasses and CD-ROM's and everything, beautiful :)

Too bad the next eclipse that's 100% visible from at least a part of the Netherlands (only in the south) will be 11 days after my 100th birthday, in 2090..

CNN's reporter in some place in Missouri is standing in the rain with no chance it clears up in 15 minutes, but luckily she's joined by some old Australian dude who travelled all the way there for the eclipse yet doesn't give two fucks about not being able to see the sun ("because it's something special anyway"). +1 for that guy

I don't know if we are thinking about the same thing, but i also remember, when i was little, an eclipse that turned a sunny day into black night in an instant. Too bad i was too little to appriciate the phenomenon.

I remember the 1999 one too but we could see nothing because the sky was just a dense blanket of the thickest clouds you could imagine. In fact, it was already very dark because of the lack of sun due to the cloud cover :d

But a couple of years ago there was a 97% solar eclipse here (the time it was total in Faroe Islands) and the cloud just cleared in time and we were treated to a lovely sight :)

I actually remember it too, despite being 4 years old at the time. :d I remember that everyone gathered and watched the total darkness in the middle of the day. :d
