ISRO Chairman  Dr. Sivan : Descent was planned. Normal performance observed in descent up-to 2.1 Km. After that, communication lost. Data being analysed.

ISRO have found the spacecraft using thermal imaging. Supposedly it’s landed 500m from the preferred site, and it is intact. ISRO have still not been able to make contact.

We will have to wait for one of the oribiters orbiting the moon to send back photos of the lander to ascertain how much damage Vikram took. Also, Vikram is only designed to be operational for one lunar day. So, time to make contact is running out. Personally, I don't think we would be able to make contact with it now.
