I think she purchased citizenship well before the war.

Hard to tell nowadays

Seven Russian athletes have appeared in Syria National team squad at Pan Arab Games and some of them have changed names and birthdays. Russian officials in federations claimed they even didn't know about it. Russian ministry of sport claimed that only two of them Milana Mugu (Mrad) (judo) and Alexandra Maximova (gymnastics) changed their citizenship officially and the information about the others on the official Games website is a mistake.

Nikita Klevchenya (Speed Skating) will compete for :wKAZ: too.

Judging by his results, I doubt he'll ever really be visible internationally, but the name is very interesting! Son of? If so, that would explain the Kazakhstan move as well, I believe the big Klevchenya has been Kazakhstan's coach at least for a while.

Yes, he is the son and the big Klevchenya is training Golubeva and Silaeva in Kazakhstan too.

Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin (figure skating) will compete for :GEO since the new season.

Lol, rumors was they would represent :USA. Guess that would have been too much a betrayal for Eteri’s daughter.

(Davis is an American citizen, Smolkin has a green card and they both live in the US. Their link to Georgia is… one of Davis’ grandparenrs is from there.

    • Like @phelpssaid there's a huge chance MP gets axed from OG than re-inventing its soul. The obstacle part will never become 'the' soul of this sport (it's more suitable for X Games if anything). The laser part is odd enough already. The number of participant countries will shrink, nobody will build the eligible obstacle courses if there isn't mass interest. I'd be surprised if MP is still an Olympic sport beyond 2040.
    • Hey guys, I contribute Skeleton articles for a new winter-sports focused website called "All things Snow".   I was wondering if any of you could please spare a few moments to read my latest article on the World Cup finale in Altenberg a few weeks ago.   Any feedback on length, content, or just general tips will be greatly appreciated. I'll be sure to implement them in my Olympic Skeleton recap pieces. Thanks!   https://allthingssnow.net/2026/01/19/pfeifer-and-wyatt-win-the-finale-meylemans-and-weston-seal-crystal-globes/

    • changes that go absolutely against the Italians (notoriously the top swimmers and not the best shooters in MP) 😭😭😭   now it's really time to axe MP from the Games 😈🥳
    • I think there was a feeling before the obstacle course was introduced that really, really solid endurance runners were starting to dominate - in Triathlon you might call it the Alex Yee conundrum. Personally, I don't mind at all if the 'martial' elements are reemphasised as that is the real 'soul' of the sport - Triathlon, Marathon and Road cycing are there for genuine endurace, MP is in some senses a 'soldiery' test - one reason I thought Judo might have been a better addition than the obstacle course. But placing a higher emphasis on the fight bits over the flight bits seems a legitimate idea - though it should also increase the X-country nature of the run so that the test of a fresh shooter at the beginning is rather different from the test of a knackered one at the end. I quite like the artificial hill in rio.
    • Pro of being in America and having Sunday be the first day of the week...Olympics are this week!
    • Guys, we are 3 days away!    3 more days until the moment we've all been waiting for, the Olympics. The same Olympics that not only has NHL players back for the first time since 2010 but more importantly the debut of our very own @brunamoura     Can't f*cking wait!
