I guess that the Japanese team is good  enough not to need the shameful gifts they received between yesterday and today...:nopompom:

what happened yesterday to :ITA Manuel Lombardo against Abe and earlier today to :POL Julia Kowalczyk against Yoshida is really shameful, it's really unacceptable...:finger::redcard::hairpull::thumbdown:

and those 2 are just the worst examples, but I've seen many, many dubious calls, despite having the chance and the help of the video replay of all the action...:zip:

it was supposed to be between ISR and ALG

I wonder if anybody wants to scream about banning this or that. or making up phantom interviews ?! or sending letters to IJF asking/ordering them to do something ? guess not, nobody will even notice this. the exact same thing happened in another sport just 2 weeks ago and of course nobody noticed. that's only for Iran while something like 10 other countries or maybe more have the same policy (which I believe is extremely stupid but that's not the point here)

justice is (partially) done! at least Kowalczyk got a small consolation with her Bronze medal (and a lot of regrets, as today she was the best on the mat...she was really, really impressive) and Yoshida didn't get a full success, which would have been totally undeserved...

Deguchi's Gold is a good compromise, as it's the right prize for her great season so far...

in the men's class, Shohei Ono was dominant all day long and he really deserved to win Gold...pity for Tajikistan...they had 2 guys in the final block, but they didn't get any medal (and Khojazoda would have deserved to win one)...

Yeah, Kowalczyk winning bronze & Yoshida not winning gold is the best case scenario. Though obviously this thing here was nothing like the Pawel Zagrodnik robbery vs master of all robbers Ebinuma at London OG 2012

Kowalczyk will only turn 22 next month so maybe we have a true elite talent on the women's side which we really lacked since the 90s (and I'm not talking Beata Maksymow who remains the last Polish judo World Champion but Ewa Larysa Krause who was way more talented before her career was tragically cut short).

    • meanwhile the 2 next best Baseball Leagues in the World have also reached the Final Series   in , the 2024 Japan Series will feature the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks (back to business after the awful 2023 season), winner of the Pacific League, and the surprising Yokohama DeNA Bay Stars, winners of the Central League after an amazing series against the heavily favoured Tokyo Giants   the Japan Series (best-of-7 games, 2-3-2 format) will start next Saturday, October 26th in Yokohama @ 6.30 p.m. local time     in  South Korea, instead, the 2024 Korean Series will see the KIA Tigers from Gwangju facing the Samsung Lions from Daegu   the series is a best-of-7 matchup, but with an unusual 2-2-3 format, with the best seeded teams (KIA in this case) hosting not only 4, but 5 of the potential 7 games    game #1 was scheduled for earlier, Today, but it was suspended in the top of the 6th inning (Samsung leading 1-0, runners on 1st & 2nd, 0 out) due to heavy rain   it should resume Tomorrow @ 4 p.m. local time (before game #2 @ 6.30 p.m. local time), but the weather forecast is awful also for Tomorrow and there's a good chance that there won't be any ball played all day long

    • my 2 cents...    Beatrice Chebet (women's Track)  Yaroslava Mahuchick (women's Field)  Rai Benjamin (men's Track)  Mondo Duplantis (men's Field)   honorable mention,  Militiadis Tentoglu (men's Field)
    • It`s all the more strange that Italy qualified two womens for Paris, even though this discipline has been in a great crisis in our country for many years - since we stopped naturalizing Chinese some 20 years ago.

    • 2 medals is the historic success of Table Tennis.     Barbora Balážová Gold and Tatiana Kukuľková bronze in W Doubles.   Funny (or not so-funny) enough... both missed Paris 2024 by a few... Balážová ended first non-qualified and Kukuľková 4th under the line... Still can not believe we failed to qualify at least one female to the Games, despite our womens team was still in qualifying position one year before Paris as 2022 WCh quarterfinalists ...   All this Olympic qualification really sucked... especially for us

    • I expected Vonn to return in a speed event, but guess she wants to test herself first on a slower GS. Though at 40 i think she won't be doing many GSs and concentrate on the DH & SG. And hopefully she does that, because a full World Cup season should be out of her aim.   As for Hirscher, he must really be scared of Odermatt breaking his records
    • Awards time!  Here's the World Athletics nominations for Track Runner of the year.    Nominees announced for Track Athlete of the Year 2024 | World Athletics   And for Field Event athlete of the year, although both of these choices are pretty bloody obvious.  High demand for yellow and blue flowers, put it that way.     Nominees announced for Field Athlete of the Year 2024 | World Athletics
