Out of nowhere and in the general silence, this event has started and will give Olympic quotas on Monday, February 13th :yikes:

2 countries for men and 2 countries for women will have 1 quota?

Where else would we get suicidal attacks in the first 50km of the Olympic Road Race if not from Africa & Iran?

But it’s good that it’s taking place in Ghana, which has not usually been one of the half-dozen cycling nations.

Massive upset in the women's race. It appears the main favorites got stuck in the peloton which finished 5+ minutes behind.

:NGR Nigeria will compete in cycling for the first time.

The Men's quotas will probably be reallocated.

I suspect they will end up in :MRI:UGA.

It's looking pretty good for Mauritius at any rate. Uganda hasn't competed in cycling since 1984.

Yeah, if the rankings don't change then those two will ultimately get the quota. Mauritius does have a chance to qualify through the rankings so maybe Rwanda will get the second quota.

On the women's side, Nigeria and Burkina Faso may end up keeping the quotas. I guess Burkina Faso has a better chance at qualifying through the rankings which would benefit Rwanda again.

I mean, it's not like the Ukrainian federation, or any single federation for that matter, has the power to strip her of her world and European championships medals I hope (not for her sake, but because that would be a super weird precedent)
