You would be still able to qualify 4 athletes in the European qualifiers and the World Cup. I mean, Germany failed to qualify in K4 in 2015, but managed to get 5 athlete quotas anyway and won the K4 gold in Rio.

yeah, thanks for reminding me that, really kind of you

lol, you at least won a medal. We didn't even reach the K4 final for the first time ever in the history of the Olympics, which was one of our lowest points in Rio for the whole Hungarian Olympic team.

yes, I remember. but well, one of the very few failures, :HUN had such extremely successful OG in Rio, that one or two flops (W Water polo and M K4-1000m) should be considered like a (still painfull, I agree) but forgettable inconvenience. SVK in other hand can rely on only a very small limited medal chances events, so such flop would be dramatic for us (forget and never reopen London 2012 all the way)  :d

Yeah, for canoeing you have boat quotas and athlete quotas. To add more confusion is the six athlete maximum in kayak events so we may have to wait for later until we figure out which events nations will choose to compete in.

But we’ll still know a concrete amount of athletes?

No because it's possible nations may have to decline quotas if they qualify too many athlete quotas.

Well, we know that there will be 170 athlete quotas available at this WCh. And we will know by the end of September how the reallocation of the unused quotas went if some NOCs win too many quotas in kayak.

What about boat quotas? Will it be exceeded after the reallocation? And which countries will be taken into consideration - the 11th country in K4 or the first not qualified in K4 which have for example one athlete quota missing to create K4 (with athletes quotas from K1 and K2). I guess the 11th, but just want to be sure. And if there are three quotas available and 11th K4 not qualified anywhere else - these athletes quotas will be reallocated to country that needs 3, 2 or 1 quotas to complete K4 or it will go already to first not qualified K2?

ICF has been pretty bad at keeping us updated in the past. If they are anything like 2012 or 2016 we probably won't know until just before the Olympics.

There are two ways the athlete quotas are reallocated

If the same athlete qualifies in both K1 events the athlete quota will be given in the longer distance and the other athlete quota will be given to the next best ranked nation in the 200m

If the same athlete qualifies in different boat classes (K1, K2 and K4 or C1 and C2) then the additional athlete quotas will be pooled in four groups (men's kayak, women's kayak, men's canoe, women's canoe) and given to the next highest ranking K4 boat (then K2 then K1 if not enough athlete quotas remain) and C2 boat (then C1 if not enough athlete quotas remain)

I know these words, I have access to the document. ;) I'm just not sure about the interpretation of them.

    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA
