Cross-Country Skiing 2019 - 2020 Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

It was today announced that Frida Karlsson will not be allowed to compete in any competition because she has not met the health requirements set by the Swedish Ski Association. The national team doctor can't say when she will be ready to compete again. Karlsson is sad and disappointed about the situation, but she will do her best to come back soon, she says.

Oestberg and Karlsson with the same kind of thing in such a short period :yikes:

Yeah, I'm not sure why we have two cases in such a short time and why they come now? The health requirements have been part of the elite programs for years in Norwegian and Swedish skiing and they have not been changed this year, so I do wonder why we suddenly see two top skiers who can't meet them?

I do fear Oestberg's situation is more serious than Karlsson's. Of course I don't have any concrete proofs of that. It's only my own personal interpretation from what I can read in the different medias about Oestberg's situation.

  • 1 month later...

Tore Bjørseth Berdal won the 70km Marcialonga in the Val di Fiemme today, which again sadly looked rather...underwhelming in terms of snow situation. Nothing beats the Vasaloppet :p

Anyhow, Berdal beat Petter Eliassen and Tord Asle Gjerdalen after attacking at the end of the final climb. Kari Vikhagen Gjeitnes won the women's race which was surprisingly competitive for a change: Astrid Slind finished only 7 seconds behind.

@ahjfcshfghb Any chance you have any clue how/where to possibly find live timing for Czech Cup races, specifically these ones? :p

https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/event-details.html?sectorcode=CC&eventid=46093&seasoncode=2020

Since our Brazilian Olympic hopeful will be competing there (among others) it'd be nice to follow along..

I don't think there's live timing but try the email addresses on the bottom of this page: it's the organizers (sekretariat@vysocina-arena.cz) and the measuring group (info@sport-casomira.cz).

Wonderful, of all people Katerina Razymova - this season's World Cup distance sensation basically - has to be in Nove Mesto as well for the Czech Cup races

Well it will be an interesting measure :d

    • apparently the Japanese organizers rejected OCA's nice request    now OCA is ordering them to do so in a not-so-nice language https://oca.asia/media/attachments/memberships_subcommittee/5/Decision_-_103rd_OCA_EB_Meeting_5ypY8y4.pdf   the last line is very interesting   I knew this for a while, for example that's why Jujjtsu is included in all of OCA events (despite being the worst sport to watch) but good to see OCA admit this. so with the corrupt OCA you can buy your way in. how much they paid the OCA officials for this ?   OK I know Qatar is financially supporting Padel (and UAE is paying everything for Jujitsu) but who is behind Teqball?  ! I don't think Thailand can do that.
