in the past few weeks, rumors about :FRA Clarisse Agbegnenou switching to :TOG have got stronger and stronger.

the reason behind this is, as often happens, about economical aspects.

Agbegnenou, in fact, has a personal technical sponsor (Mizuno), meanwhile the French National team is of course under contract with Adidas.

now the French Federation wanted Agbegnenou wear Adidas judogi in her comeback appearance after her maternity leave after Tokyo 2020, but the double Olympic champion refused to do it, saying that she hasn't trained enough with that judogi to wear it also in competition.

but the French Federation left her without any coach on mat side in Tel Aviv (and she lost 2 of the 4 bouts for the first time since 2017) and threatened to leave her out of the team for the next World Championships and above all, out of the Olympic team.

therefore, the great Clarisse, despite her will, has to think about a plan B, which leads to switching to the African Nation her family is from.

personally, I think everything will be fixed quite soon and nothing strange is gonna happen, but if it happens...

Clarisse Agbegnenou has now agreed to wear Adidas judogi at the 2024 Olympics, but she has admitted she “no longer has confidence in the French Judo Federation”

I don't think she had any other option.

switching Nationality right now would have meant a long pause...and basically no chance to compete in Paris without the French authorization.

Patrícia Tománková extended her winning streak to 27 consecutive matches by Ippon this year. Winning yesterday another EC Cadet tournament, this time in Gyor :HUN

This girl is really a slowly growing well hided gem of our sport. Silently waiting for her turn in a couple of years. :yes

Veronika-Bor-Gyor-Cadet-European-Cup-202

and a small mention about Márius Fízeľ battle for the Slovak Olympic Judo return. Added yesterday another very valuable points by winning the Australian GP in Perth, The level of competition was obviously very mediocre, but who care ? The most important are the points for the Olympics ranking, and our judokas missed the Five Rings Tatamis since London 2012 ffs !

not so bad, though

the :AUS open is compared to the European Continental events, so it's a good 700 points in the OQR for Fizel

not a bad trip for him (and those who flew to :AUS)

    • The olympic charter is toilet paper. Russia was suspended because otherwise western sponsor companies would pull out and some big countries would've boycotted Paris. Money is the only thing that matters to IOC.
    • Remember that Russia's IOC suspension was for a "breach of the Olympic Charter because it violated the territorial integrity of the NOC of Ukraine" not for any other reason. Restoring Russia without that changing would have huge repercussions for other nations.
    • It’s just a great weasel word.   We all want  to come back to International sport "when they are in compliance". But there are very differing opinions on what that means.
    • I doubt that.  It will mean only a doping rubber stamp and a promise not to swear at the ice skating moppets in public,
    • So, kind of forgotten about at the end of the summer season, we have two events to go in the World Triathlon Championship Series, the last WTCS regular season races of the year in Weihai , then the Final in  in mid-October.  All to play for because there are double points up for grabs in the last race, so effectively nothing really decided yet.  Races are tomorrow morning  time, so pretty much overnight in Europe.   Races are full Olympic length and apparently a hilly cycling course.  Here's the situation and preview for the Men.     World Triathlon Championship Series Weihai ready for another epic Wilde vs Yee battle | World Triathlon Championship Series   And for the women   Women's World Triathlon Championship Series rankings to heat up in Weihai | World Triathlon Championship Series
    • "once it returns to compliance" would mean it renounces its claim to Crimea... Can't see that happening any time soon.
    • Maggie MacNeil   She was an Olympic, World (LC and SC) Pan American Games and Commonwealth Games Champion. Highly decorated career.
    • when I raised the question, I forgot that that there was no U23 medals for women just a couple years ago...
    • it happens when you think too much ahead about the next match (vs Brazil) while you have a tough opponent ahead. they gave up 4 silly goals in the first half and then it was a mountain to climb.  Iran had a last penalty exactly in the last second which hit the bar   have to admit Iran played terrible the entire match and didn't deserve the win but Morocco is also a very ugly team. lots of acting, deceiving, diving and protesting in the 2nd half. putting Iran in 5 fouls very early which made the team playing cautious
    • Morocco won after almost being stolen the victory by the refs. Those officials should be sent home after calling that joke foul in the last second.
