Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Gold Medalist Markus Rehm :GER with an incredible 8.72m to break his own WR in men's long jump T64 (Previously 8.62m, which was set at the European Para Athletic Championships in June 2021)

That mark would've won gold at the last 15 Olympic Games. :yikes: Definitely one to watch on the road to Paris 2024.

He's a great athlete, but his blade gives him an advantage over able-bodied athletes, so the comparisons are not really fair.

Next meet up - tomorrow, the Golden Spike from Ostrava.  Some people haven’t had that big a journey.

Myrte van der Schoot broke the NU20R 400m that Femke Bol set in 2019 (52.98) last weekend, with a 52.88 at the junior national championships. Second place Britt de Blaauw also ran the 3rd place time of the all-time U20 leaderboard (53.27).

Loving the competition in our 4x400m teams, everyone is really making each other stronger right now!

If he was jumping off his real leg, we could have the discussion. Hugely impressive though i is on a personal level, he jumps off a spring; it's basically a pogo stick record. I've seen him jump, his distance does not correlate with his approach speed, and the difference is that blade.

FWIW, even if its not 'advantage', it still shouldn't be allowed because it is simply not like with like

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
