Hopefully, Canada can outdo its performance from last season. If we can move into the top 12 Olympic qualification becomes quite possible. Hoping to go at least 2-2 this week.

Our objective this edition is to not get relegated, so today's win against Croatia is a big step in that direction. We play against the Dominican Rep. tomorrow in another head-to-head for relegation. Only negative from today was that our captain Paskova picked up an injury and will have surgery, which is a big bummer...

I remember that after Rio 2016, many people were concerned about the future of our national team, because it took us a long time to give new players the opportunity and the players we had, unfortunately, did not compare to our golden generation. I'm happy that today we can see new and talented players in Brazil, I can finally see a good future. And of course, all thanks to our coach who is spectacular.

To be honest, i hadn't heard of most of our players, as they are switching the roster with a new generation, but i am liking the attitude and play they showed. But as per tradition, we lost 2 matches, which we should have won, after leading a great deal of the game. With this play having only 1 win after the first week is a disappointment, even with the injury of our captain. Hopefully this team can upgrade both mentally and tactically.

The Netherlands decline in this sport seems to be continuing, with a week of only losses.

Meanwhile I'm very impressed by Thailand's results and their close match with Italy (even if Italy wasn't their strongest team). Some of the highlights on youtube seem like a really fun underdog team!

Serbia 0-4 in the first week :mumble:. Okay, they are without Boskovic, but the team is more talented than that (Last year's tournament showed that). Not a good start for Guidetti.

    • Despite total domination by the Norwegian men (and yes, it's exhausting and boring), the accomplishments this weekend of Emil Iversen and Einar Hedegart are worth highlighting, despite them being Norwegian.    Iversen was dropped by the Norwegian national team after the opener in Beitostølen 2 weeks ago and was not taken to Ruka. Instead, he won both the 10k and 20k Interval Classic starts in Gålå in the Norwegian Cup last week, which granted him a spot on the start line in Trondheim. He took full advantage of that opportunity and finished on the podium in the skiathlon, and finished just off the podium in today's 10k Interval Freestyle. This definitely puts his name in serious contention for a spot on the Olympic team, which looked incredibly doubtful just a few days ago.    Einar Hedegart, the 24-year-old biathlete who decided to challenge the stereotype that biathletes are inferior skiers to their cross-country counterparts, just won the 10k Interval Start against all of Norway's best in a de facto Olympic trial.    Yes, it's exhausting seeing nothing but Norwegian flags on the men's side, but there can be excitement just beneath the surface at times.
