[OFF TOPIC] Your Own Excercise Thread

For a day or so I thought I'd run my second half marathon, this time in Brazil, but apparently my girlfriend looked wrong and at the stage of the local running circuit that's being held when I'm there, there is no half marathon. Oh well :p

I'd be so confused about the hols when there are that many  Dots or no dots. But nice going :d

Yes, it can be confusing, but the color coding helps. The main problem with all those different routes set on the same top rope is that reading the route can become really tricky. That’s generally my biggest problem along with an overall lack of strength because I just haven’t pushed myself enough. My gym is more about the boulders anyway, which is a shame because I like route climbing a lot more.

  • 3 weeks later...

Alright, I’ve decided that I didn’t like putting on 20 pounds this year. I’m a 150 lb man, not a 170-175 lb man. I recently saw that my biggest local 5km event added a 10km to their program this year. So I’ve decided it’s time for my 10km debut and to resume my distance running career for the 10th year in a row. The race will take place on November 28, so I’ve got just under 2 months to get in shape. This week, starting tomorrow, my goal is to run 20-30 mins (1 1/2 - 2 miles a day). I’m going to gradually bump that up to 75 minute runs. My goal for the 10km is a) finishing it b) not vomiting c) going under 50:00 d) keeping a 7-8 minute mile pace. If all goes to plan I’ll follow it up with a 5km in mid December before either ending my short season or looking for an orienteering race to do. I’m hoping to actually see this through. I’ll try to give a few updates here and there, but I’m feeling optimistic. I’d like to Triple Jump next spring too.

A brave goal. I wish you success in achieving your goal. For me, a little too late, you started preparations for November 28.

Well I’ve run 3 5k races in December without any training whatsoever before, so I’ll feel over prepared for this :p. I am aware that my training schedule will be tight. Just have to stay focused on goals and perform the way I have for 9 years pervious.

The ground is to set goals that you can achieve. For example, I have never been a type of endurance and for me running over 10 km is not pleasant.

Under 50 minutes is my next 10k goal as well. I'm joining your challenge :d

My goals are sub-50 minute 10k and sub-20 minute 5k for the 2 races. I’m optimistic about the 10k goal, but the 5k will be a huge challenge.

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
