I agree that it should have been red, but wouldn't you have done exactly the same in the situation?

Probably anyone would have gone for 'probably a goal' (penalty) rather than 'definitely a goal' (doing nothing) :p

It wasn't red though, there's a small distinction in the rules. He went for the ball and had a somewhat realistic chance at that. It would have been red if clearly all he could do was bring the Croatian guy down.

But it stopped a sure goal, so it should be I think.

Schmeichel did all he could but his teammates forgot their aim in the changing rooom.

As I said before the game, Croatia played their first real game today (because Nigeria and Argentina are joke teams), and what was seen isn't satisfactory.

Anyway, in a normal day they should pass Russia who are clearly weaker than Denmark.

Would say that Eriksens penalty was pretty good and a great save. Schöne was pretty bad but not terrible while Nicolai was without doubt a bad one

What would you people do if you were Modric? Take the first penalty or not? After missing one to basically decide the match.

Hard decision :p

I think i would have taken the penalty. If they win, it doesn't matter whether he took the penalty or not. If they lose and he made his penalty, then at least he can say that he somewhat made up for his missed penalty and won't always have to ask himself whether he should have taken it. In 3 out of 4 possible outcomes taking the penalty would be the better decision in my opinion, so i think it would be better to take it.

You could also see it this way: Why did Modric take the penalty? The reason probably is that he is their best penalty-taker, so if he can get the missed penalty out of his head, he would increase their chances to advance by taking one of the penalties, so it's somewhat his duty to do it, but of course only he himself can tell whether he is able to get the missed penalty out of his head or not.

Yes, so? Just because i would have done the same, it doesn't make it right.
