America is 1 continent not 2 , they are 10 countries in southern part +20-30 in north , they can make groups just like others ,

hé no, they divided the continent to ensure the qualif of USA , they play vs islands without any experience in football , that's why they qualify, they are always in

they know  they have no  chance vs south american teams , this system of cheating is shameful

Knowing our luck Poland will draw Canada now and promptly lose their first WC match to a CONCACAF team

:POL is 4-0-0 vs CONCACAF teams (7-0 vs  :HAI in 1974, 3-1 vs :MEX in 1978, 3-1 vs :USA in 2002 and 2-1 vs :CRC in 2006).

I mean, hey, whatever you want!

Except that CONCACAF and CONMEBOL existed since 1948 and since 1958 when the qualifications started by continent there were different qualifiers for north and south america. (just like volleyball and norcaeca and csv)

I never really got that argument anyway.  North and South America are one continent, but Europe is not just a peninsula of the Eurasian continent?  You can even throw Africa in there since the Sinai Isthmus is the same as the Panamanian Isthmus.  And let's not even get into cultural differences.  Besides, Europe gets more quotas than Europe anyway.

Not even an argument...... it was never an issue, there were always separate qualification tournaments, with 24,32 and even next time with 48

As we also often see in Olympic qualification, the number of federations is vastly different and it happens that it would be similar if you divided the world in 4 zones instead of having some with 10 teams and some with 50...Europe (and South America, which will get to qualify at least 60% of their teams next times) get more teams but remember what was happening when, with the old FIFA ranking until 2018, the coefficient of a zone was determined by intercontinental games, results were so one sided in favor of UEFA and CONMEBOL against the rest that they had to introduce a completely made up minimum that in practice was giving N. American, Asian and African teams 3,4, sometimes 6 times the number of points that they earned "on the field"

    • Alpine skiing also we have a lot of problems: the men's team is very weak and has been winning a few podiums a season for several years and the our best skier- Dominik Paris is 35. We still have a strong women's team but 3 of the 4 leaders are over 30 (Goggia, Brignone, Curtoni) and Bassino is 28. Another 2 years and we will have the same problem as the men's. There is basically no cross-country skiing without Pellegrino for many years, biathlon is based on 2 individuals with one of them has a 35 years. Vittozzi's injury was enough and we haven`t a single podium this season after 3 stages of the World Cup. As for 1 year to the home games the situation isn`t optimistic.
    • Hail to the Reds... Commanders. First time since 1991 Washington QB has thrown 5 TD passes in a game (which isn't all that improbable in the modern game alas Dan Snyder...)
    • Italy is much better in alpine skiing, in The end all Nations have a Limited Talent Pool. Norway is far better than Sweden/Finland in Cross-Country skiing, alpine skiing and Biathlon, but Sweden/Finland are far better in ice Hockey.  Great Britain wins far more medals than Germany At Summer olympics, but GB is also inexistant in Winter Sports and Most popular Team Sports (Volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Ich Hockey).
    • Thanks, great stat! Tannheimer wont turn 20 until August 2025, so she has The whole Season To Join Kristiansen and Neuner. Too Bad that she was ill this week. I think Galmace Paulin and Tänglander could also do it. I think Grotian (born 2004) is The First female Biathlete born after 1999 To make a World Cup Podium. On The Mens side multiple Athletes (Perrot, Giacomel, Uldal) have already done it.   E. Öberg was 22 and a half when she First won.  Dahlmeier was 21 and a half.   Edit: Grotian only narrowly missed The Podium in The Individual at The 2024 World Championships when she was still  19 year old.
