Essentially tied for 4th.  I could see that Woods was in a bad spot when the sprint started, boxed in.  Too bad, I thought he was pulling away for the silver when they entered the stadium.  Like I said, there's still the time trial.

Woods is not doing the Time trial... only Houle is

Is Woods in the Time Trial? I didn't think he was entered in that.

I agree - it really looked like he was getting boxed in as they entered the last few meters.

I was wondering why she haven’t showed up.  Hopefully she will be ok for the next races.

There's some more info here - https://swimswam.com/sydney-pickrem-skips-400-im-prelim-due-to-non-covid-medical-reasons/

It looks like it was likely just a withdrawal so she can focus on her other events.

The way I see it, whichever team wins the Japan/Canada game tomorrow will play for gold.  No disrespect to Italy, but they haven't even scored a run in 3 games so I assume Canada will beat them.  If CAN wins and USA beats Japan then it'll be USA vs CAN for gold.  If Japan pulls it off, all three will have 4-1 records while beating each other.  It really seems like the USA would finish 3rd on runs for the tie breaker.

As for the soccer girls, I've been unimpressed thus far.  They definitely have individuals that look good but it seems like their system is letting them down.  Way too hesitant, always looking to pass back instead of striking, trying to hold a lead instead of continuing to play hard.  Actually reminds me of my Habs, during the regular season anyway.  But look at what happened in the playoffs.  Hopefully the ladies can figure it out like that.

The road race still stings a bit because Woods was looking so good, breaking away twice.  That whole following group was annoying me, it looked like no one wanted to win.  Even at the end, they were all looking at each other for permission to sprint.  Like, you're 200m away from the finish.  I get strategy, but just go if you can.

The guide said something like that: Algeria is a few minutes from here but we won't go there because there is a war going on there and it's not safe.
    • Netanyahu is bad but unfortunately Hamas helps him maintain power. Every attack they make is a reinforcement of Netanyahu's rhetoric about the country's security, etc. In the fall of 2023, Netanyahu was already losing support and then suddenly a big Hamas attack on a festival near the Gaza Strip. Coincidence? It wouldn`t surprise me at all if Netanyahu knew about the plan for this attack but did nothing so that he would then have the tools to maintain his power. I also remember Ariel Sharon - he was probably even more radical than Netanyahu but he had a brain hemorrhage and fell into a coma.
    • Ah yes, post-colonial bickering never gets too old. Let me grab my popcorn!   Netanyahu is on a personal revenge mission to avenge his brother's death for his entire political life and people still act like they're surprised by his actions
    • MId-1962.  Almost all the Jews were driven out in a few days, even though they had been living there since Classical, pre-Muslim times.   Perhaps our friend could give us details of of any current Algerian plans to welcome them back, restore their property, guarantee their safety etc etc?
    • In what year did Algeria free itself from French influence? 1960, exactly?

    • There are still many people of Jewish origin in Central and Eastern Europe who have nothing to do with the state of Israel. What ties does Zelensky have to the state of Israel? Apart from he waś there as president of Ukraine and speaking in the Knesset? Nothing. In the power circles in Moscow there were/are many people of Jewish origin and what about that? A large part of the power apparatus of the USSR was based on Jews, especially in the years shortly after WWII.   Instead of constantly writing about Jews, would be better to tell me which country Algeria has better diplomatic relations with: Tunisia or Egypt?
