Two things many people probably don't remember:

1) She almost singlehandedly carried the german relay to a silver medal at the 2009 cross-country skiing world championships while still being 18 years old (and she also won a silver medal in the cross-country relay at the 2010 olympics).

2) At the 2013 cross-country skiing world championships she finished 4th in the 10 km freestyle race, only 0.5 seconds behind bronze, only a week after competing at the biathlon world championships.

To me the biggest what-if isn't what she could have done in biathlon, but what she could have done in cross-country skiing if she would have fully focused on it. I think if she would have been norwegian, she would have focused on cross-country skiing and could have become one of the best athletes of her generation.

I remember thinking that a Gössner/Neuner team could have been the world’s best Team Sprint combination & probably full relay 3&4 as well.

Couldn't watch the race live so I'm only TVP Sport late night replay.

Five pages for this sprint race, I guess people really wanted to see Lampic's debut! And she really made it count, impressive how she missed the first three in the stand but came back to hit the last two. It's safe to say she might be a major force with her skiing speed but the 4-shoot races could be interesting :p

Also I see Davidova improved her shooting speed, no more junior breathing technique?

    • I can finally piggyback off @vinipereira predictions to deliver my own    I'll be honest. I was rather busy during most of the awards season, so I wasn't able to see as much as I wanted to, or normally would have been able to. Therefore, I'm relying heavily on pundit predictions and general feel this time around.     If there was a category for best poster artwork, my nominees would be: Bugonia, Eddington, Dracula, The Sound of Falling, Sirāt   I'd give best animal acting to Pipa from Sirāt   And my favorite scenes from the year are... Kids getting bewitched, Weapons Gladys getting her just desserts, Weapons Car chase, One Battle After Another I Lied To You, Sinners Turn that shit up, Sirāt Playing with arrows, The Love That Remains Street dance, The Life of Chuck Cold open, Warfare Final scene, The Plague Ship prayer, The Testament of Ann Lee

    • Btw I highly recommend the short film 'Butterfly' which has a story related to the Olympics.
    • Once again here I am with my annual Oscar predictions post. Last year I predicted 13/23 winners which was my worst results ever by far. For the second consecutive year Brazil is nominated so I'm hoping that 'The Secret Agent' wins something, especially because it's a film from my home state. I watched 34 out of the 35 feature films (only 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' missing) and all 15 short films nominated, so I leave a personal ranking of all the categories.   ["will win" is my prediction / "could win", my alternate prediction / "should win", my personal ranking / "shoud have been nominated", a way to remember other notable work].
    • I don't know how soon that'll be though... and until then not holding my breath. Really wanted to see Caissie crushing balls at the Olympics, he deserved it for his play this tournament, and now he might not get the opportunity to. He's still young, but this will probably be Canada's best chance, and he'll only be around for Brisbane 2032 at best considering the bids in contention for 2036.    It just sucks, constant disappointment for the Canadians this year with barely anything to cheer for, and coming so close only to come up short... I'd rather us have just lost in the group stage
    • I think instead of allocating 2 spots here (for Americas) WBSC should have allowed 3 spots (rather than 2) in the 2027 WBSC premiere. ( 1 each for Asia, Europe & Americas)   That way it would have ensured two things : ONLY the top team from Americas gets the quota here ( deservedly so) additionally it would have allowed teams from Americas a second shot at qualification from the 2027 premieres.    Getting only 1 tournament , more than 2 years ahead of olympics is very harsh on the teams from Americas.
