Great news! I’ve quite a few updates to make since I last updated our qualification tracker a few weeks ago :)

I am hoping @Ogremanstill gives his final summary on rowing.

Just noticing that our Badminton team could reach 4. Womens singles and Mens Doubles now in qualifying spots.

Interesting one to watch in boxing later today at the tournament in Poland

Lisa O'Rourke and Grainne Walsh are in the final against each other.  Amy Broadhurst got the nod for the European Games but there's 3 of them going for the one spot there at 66kg

Meanwhile 3 from the slalom canoeists?  Don't think many of us saw that coming

I thought one (C1) and hoped for men's K1 (as there was 15 spots) but didn't see a women's spot popping up. Great stuff

14.933 for Rhys McClenagahan in qualifying. He did flex his hips at one point in the routine but I thought his routine would still break 15. Anyway he will be safely through. Only in subdivision 2 so obviously yet to see a lot of the potential contenders but Whitlock scored 15.266 and notably from an Olympic qualifying perspective Nariman Kurbanov :KAZ only managed 14.166 so thats one potential contender for the Olympic quota out of the way.

Eamon Montgomery and Dominick Cunningham both threatened big scores on floor (well for them- like breaking 14) but faded in their last couple of passes.

Rhys in a four way battle for the Olympic spot now. Last year’s silver :JOR and bronze :ARM  as well as Tokyo silver medalist :TPE

4 men who think they can win gold here, never mind qualify for the Olympics (Whitlock clearly favourite)

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.
