good luck to the girls...they're shooting in awful conditions...it's raining like hell...

luckily it looks that there's not much wind...

p.s. after the world champs and the european games, back to our usual world cup tv director...he must be one of those headache pills reseller...:wall:

and among the men, after day #2, we have :TUR Yavuz Ilnam leading the field with 73/75, followed by :MLT William Chetcuti with 72/75 and the pair composed by :POR Joao Azevedo and :GER Andreas Loew with 71/75...

then, tied for 5th place, there's a 9-man pack with 70/75 (group including also :ITA Giovanni Pellielo, looking for his 8th Olympic participation)...

:MLT Chetcuti!:wall: 3 misses in the last 5 shots...and he's out of the final (the shoot-off for the final, most likely) by just 1 hit and loses any chance to earn an Olympic spot for now...:(

right now, :GER Andreas Loew has finished his qualification round with 119/125 and he's sure of the 1st place and to be part of the final...

then we have quite a complicated situation...:POR Joao Azevedo and :TUR Yavuz Ilnam have finished the quali with 118/125 and should be reasonably safe (still, they could be caught by 4 more shooters and have to go to the shoot-off, even if it's highly unlikely)...

finally, we have :RUS Alipov, :ITA Pellielo, :ITA De Filippis already done and dusted at 117/125...

but...

but, as said, we still have a few shooters (5) who could go as high as 118 and send them home, or with a 24 in the final heat they could force a crowded and dramatic shoot-off for the last places in the final...

I can't believe, that probably none of the finalists are already qualified for Tokyo. Another close miss for Germany probably incoming.

yes, all 6 shooters in the final are still looking for their Olympic spot...it's gonna be a dramatic final (and hopefully the weather conditions won't play a part in the process, 'cause yesterday it was a really bad day in Lahti...I don't know how it is right now)...

the final is scheduled to start around 5 p.m. CET

    • 2 things...   first, for what concerns the cooperation between inline skating and speedskating federations...sorry to disppoint some of you, but there's a great cooperation between them   the point is that many "summer" skaters just don't want to try the ice because they have too much to give up for that   you name places like Collalbo or Baselga, but for the "summer skating" guys from centeral and southern regions it's not an option, it's not that they make it for a living with those disciplines, they have to focus on their studies and build a post-competitive sport career and they just can't place themselves into a hole in the mountains when they maybe are studying in some prestigious universities in the big cities   as I already posted more than once, the idea of covering one of those tracks in the mountains was something idiotic, a political concession impossible to be sustained   the one and only chance to build a true legacy and an efficient, attractive national training center was to build a permanent indoor oval in Milan, beside the Forum   that would have given all the "summer skaters" a true opportunity to try the ice experience and at the same time find the most useful, attractive, prestigious places to continue their studies and try and manage them together with their sports career   any other place wouldn't stand a chance   second...don't give Salvini any credit he doesn't deserve...actually, I think he doesn't even know that in Cortina there's a sliding sports track    it's not thanks to him that the Cortina track's building finally went underway
