At least I can’t remember when I used to have to listen to the Olympics on a radio because TV wasn’t a thing yet.

When I was a boy we had to wait for the carrier pigeon to arrive from Athens before we knew the results.

I remember the whole town getting drunk to celebrate Milon of Kroton's 4th Olympic title,

Long Beach Dew Tour 2019

Olympic qualifier event for both Street and Park Skateboarding

Long Beach is welcoming more than 300 of the world’s best male and female skateboarders who will compete in the Park and Street events for a chance to win the Dew Tour title, while earning valuable points toward their country’s Olympic skateboarding team.

The Olympic qualification system will be based on World Skateboarding Rankings maintained by World Skate: Skateboarders are now earning points by competing in World Skate sanctioned events during the Olympic qualifying period which started January 1 of this year and will end May 31, 2020.

Dew Tour, part of the World Skate sanctioned Five-Star Street and Park skateboarding will also serve as the last global qualifying event in the U.S. in 2020.

This year’s Dew Tour will host open qualifiers, quarter final, semi final and final rounds of competition, offering fans the chance to see both favorite and new skaters from across the globe.

Competitions will start on Thursday, June 13 and will conclude on Sunday, June 16.

The Park competition course is comprised of a concrete “pool” with a combination of ramps and course bends.

For the Street competition, a street-like course will be designed featuring stairs, curbs, slopes and rails.

Dew Tour is free and open to the public.

The weekend event also includes the Dew Tour Experience, a vibrant interactive sponsor village and Dew Tour on the Green, a festival of outdoor music, local food and drink vendors and lifestyle activations, including a public skatepark and a learn to skate area.

Various events incorporating the Long Beach community will also be featured throughout the weekend through local nonprofit partners.

On June 13, at 10 a.m. (local time) the Dew Tour Qualifier Crash Course will take place in the media area: an expert panel session and press brunch featuring pro skateboarders and industry leaders to discuss the Olympic qualification process leading into Tokyo.

The event will be live streamed on DewTour.com.

A total of six hours of Dew Tour coverage will air on NBC and NBCSN.

The event will also be livestreamed in its entirety on Worldskate.tv and DewTour.com for a total of 31 hours LIVE.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
