Gender non-discrimination bills. A female (even self-claimed) has a right that should be entitled to any person. Essentially no one can be discriminated against based on gender.

That's all cool and stuff for daily life, but it's just not fair if a male proclaims himself female (which one has every right to do, or at least one should have that right) and goes and compete against born females, who are then automatically put at a major physical disadvantage. There's a reason so many more of these problematic cases in sports are around females who are born male rather than males who are born female.

Christ, this is so, so wrong. I fully support the trans community, but gender politics should stay out of sports. I guess it would make things clear for everyone if the IOC would rename the events and have them as "High testosterone" (formerly "Men's") and "Low testosterone" (formerly "Women's") events. That way people wouldn't be able to claim that IAAF is trying to force athletes into the wrong gender category.

Or just have one open category. Not the men's 800m and women's 800m, but only the 800m. I've got a feeling we're gonna see some complaints then though.

Completely agree.

I was speaking same thing first time this info appeared.

Someone can feel as man or woman, i respect that. But if Usain Bolt, in some parallel universe, decides to be a woman, would it be fair to have him competing against other women? His 9.58 wouldnt change just because he is Usaina and not Usain.

So, any man who declares himself to be a female can participate in 2028 Olympics in women categories?

Yes, and IOC rules would allow that.

No way this holds up. A lot of things can still happen until 2028 ;)

Well the IOC (or actually USOPC since the IOC only answers to Swiss court) could face legal challenges in the state. Their own rules also allow for transgender athletes, so they would have to change their rules too.

If this really happened, the door would be wide open for cheaters who claim that they consider themselves women just to get some easy Olympic Gold medals. It would be the death of women's sports. In no way should this happen. All those female athletes who aren't XY have their Rights as well.

The transgender athletes with high Testosteron can start at the men's competition. Nobody forbids them to do this.

    • It's an interesting question, Norway is certainly expanding their efforts into a number of new sports. So, that cannot help but to peal off a few more natural athletes. I know their training methods are kinda rocking the world in a number of summer endurance sports.  I can't really speak to they dynamics of their development program. Their men's nordic programs largely always seem to be ridiculously deep, overwhelmingly so the last decade or so.

    • But it seems to us that Norway wasn't as strong in Lillehammer 1994 as it was later? And not just in women's events. Generally, until 2000, Norway was much weaker in women's biathlon and women`s cross-country skiing. I remember in the 1990s, Italy's biggest rivals, Belmondo and di Centa, were Russia, when Norway somewhere further back and only in the classic style. Bente Martinsen- Skari, this is their first really strong girl in cross country, just about 2000, just like Liv Grete Skielbreid- Pioree in women`s biathlon at similar times.   Do you think, that is there any hope that thanks to the popularity of Haaland and football in general in Norway in recent years, winter sports such as biathlon or cross-country skiing will lose a little bit, becouse that?

    • This suggestion  @Dnl  made some months ago has also been implemented.   In each club, I have added a "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" record which takes the content from the Qualification by Nation tracker of that NOC.   People who see it can not edit the content, but it will be automatically updated once @Matej will update the record, and if you notice any mistake feel free to report it to Matej or in the record itself.   Club's admins can now edit the name of the section into their own language or change the spelling, I have used "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" for all the clubs. To do so, go inside the section, then click on "Manage Club"-"Edit this database Record" and change the name of the section:     By the way, if you are not a club's admin but you would like to edit things inside the club just let me know and I will give you the rights to do so. There can be more "admins" inside the club with the rights to edit and organize the sections, and that's not a role that require time or commitment.   Let's try to make all the clubs active during MiCo and when the LA28 qualifications will start!
