here we disagree 100%, we in POL care a lot about this "conflict" (i have other words for that) but maybe we are biased - we have this war just around our corner, we know many UKR people, we have boarder both with UKR and RUS, this is not an easy situation

but ofc not many people here care about Lampedusa and stuff like that, this is far away from here and so on...

afaik Poland is part of EU ;)

unfortunately, Italy is also another place where the :RUS vs :UKR conflict is still on top of the headlines (actually, here anything's good not to talk of the Italian people's daily troubles...so, you only find international conflicts and women/family murders on our media)

The only thing missing are pills and syringes to symbolize Russian athletes' relentless state-sponsored doping.

In which sports, besides fencing, judo, boxing, wrestling, cycling and rowing RUS and BLR athletes still can try qualify? I remember all those federations allowed them to return as neutrals, same about gymnastics, but I doubt that they will qualify there as WCH are done and European Gymnastics Union didnt allowed them to compete in qualification events. How it can be in aquatic sports?

Badminton technically gives 'neutral athletes' 2 months to qualify (if BWF is actually true to its words). And realistically only 2 Russians can qualify (one each in men's singles and women's singles) from that limited time frame, Belarus does not care about this sport.

    • Here's a comparison relative to 2024 (I removed the new team sports to make it more comparable). This ignores Belarus and Russia.   Largest Increases Relative to 2024 1.  +58 2.  +44 3. +31 4.  +29 4.  +29 6.  +28 7.  +27 8.  +24 9.  +22 10.  +21 10.  +21   Unsurprisingly, the United States is expected to see the largest increase thanks to host quotas. It's not as massive as previous host nations, but that's because they don't need host quotas for most sports. South Africa is looking at a big increase, but only if they accept the water polo quotas this time around.     Largest Decreases Relative to 2024 1.  -135 2.  -43 3.  -38 4.  -33 5.  -31 6.  -29 7.  -28 8.  -26 8.  -26 10.  -23 10.  -23   Again, no surprise to see France topping the list as they no longer benefit from host quotas. Ireland takes heavy losses not only by losing two large team events, but is generally down in most sports. Interestingly, Italy has the same number of large team events, but it's the drop in athletics and rowing which caused it to be so high up in the list.

    • Thanks to everyone who voted for , and especially to @OlympicIRL for another win and for putting in the effort to organize this edition! Unfortunately, I’ve been really busy these days attending online events about archaeology and museums. Hopefully, I’ll find time to participate next time.
