Apparently Hungary/Orban has joined the group of countries who want Ukraine to be quickly part of the EU? That sounds surprising, if true

Not surprise to me. Maybe I am not updated yet but all countries saying yes are from Central and Eastern Europe. Apparently Western Europe take it cautiously when it comes to concrete movement.

Not Orbán said it but that is true. As I wrote it Hungary is on the EU's side in this conflict. And this time it is on the other side than it was a month ago...

Hungary wants Ukraine inside the EU for the same reason we want Serbia to join: it would be great for the Hungarian minority living in these countries. I mean, it's quite simple, the EU can protect the Hungarian minorities inside these countries once they join the Union. 

 

Edit: Also, just think about it: Ukraine and Serbia would be more right-wing friends for Orbán inside the EU. Everyone likes Ukraine now, but I think there's a good chance they would be part of the "anti-liberal gang" with Poland and Hungary once they join.
