OK, but is is possible to fake a measurement anymore? I know it was done at the Rome World Champs when there was manual measurement, but nowadays it is all digital, no human involvement.

We have seen problems with setting up the equipment in a few events - is happening in the Triple Jump now.

I don't believe that it was actually faked on purpose. My point is: Her throw was shorter than actually measured. There are problems witht the laser measurement, indeed. If the meaures are too short, you run a protest a against it. I think, the laser measurement here was wrong but nobody protested against it as the measurement showed a better result than it actually was. Or the contestants did't noticed it, I don't know.

Teams that lose out with bad decisions protest all the time - that's what happened in the hammer just today.  There are literally dozens of coaches in the stands, all filming the action and replaying it in real time.

I would have thought the same. So what do you think happened here?

Lines on the grass were not drawn with the correct degree of curvature.

Possible ofc. But as I said, I didn't get that impression for other throws. And: The lines which are put on the grass are surely international standardized and they are not really a matter of local organizers or the laser technique. Whatever, we'll never know. It was just suspicious, even considering she had improved by more than half a meter with that throw. That's nothing against KJT (or the British in general, if you might think that - as you got something against the German as you said ;-) ), she is a great athlete and deserves any medal.

    • I've read many years ago that the switch to artificial grass kinda kill the sport at grassroots level in these two countries.
    • India and Pakistan totally losing the plot in this sport, sad.

    • Interesting, for only 2 months i think i have seen some kind of coin from all of the big countries - Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, France, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Ireland and yes the 2 euro from Croatia. But some of them were the smaller ones, 10, 5, 2 cents.    Expectedly there aren't any from the smaller countries so far. Nothing from the Baltics, Cyprus, Slovenia, Malta, Andorra etc. But also a bit surprising i haven't seen any from Greece yet.    Don't know from what part of Italy are you, but it's safe to say that when summer hits there will be a lot of Bulgarians visiting Rome, so i'm sure they'll bring some of our coins to spread around.
    • I choose to collect only coins in circulation (and I have also found coins in circulation that should not be on the market; you can find a bit of everything). From my experience, it takes 4-5 years for coins to reach southern Italy, so I have no idea how it will work in Bulgaria. Incidentally, I am curious to see when I will see my first Bulgarian coin. I have not yet seen a Croatian coin (introduced in 2023!).
    • Yes, i saw that there are a lot of commemorative coins. But to get some of those, i would need to buy them, as i don't know how much of them are in circulation. And the chances of such making it to Bulgaria are rather slim.    Still, if i find some sports ones on a good price, maybe i will order a few.

    • Have you already started looking for the hundreds of commemorative 2 euro coins? There are loads of them, including sports-themed ones.
    • Don't know if someone else is collecting Euro coins, but since we joined the zone it's been fun looking at what you can get.    It took only 2 months, but today i finally got my first Slovakian coin.  @hckošice
