I think that's exactly the kind of move that could work at the YOG. Yang  pulled it off in the short track 1500m.

With a gap this big, it even has a big shot at the top senior level. He was more than an entire straight ahead of them, they actually could not see him anymore when leaving the turn.

He just needed to cruise for a few laps (when they were all standing after the 1st sprint) and turn the jets back on for the final 2-3 laps.
