on the other hand, quite a disaster for our girls...

WOW ! Egypt defeated France in men's Epee Teams at WC in Russia , that's quite a big result for us and even with a very young but promising team

Live Results from the Women's Épée World Cup in Russia.

 

A lot of DNF's, mainly due to the Swiss and German athletes not turning up.

SUI and EST all DNF. GER Ndolo is still competing, ITA Ferrari DNF while most of their compatriots took the opposite decision, looks like it was left for everyone to decide for herself in those federations.

however, all of them competed yesterday in the preliminary pool's round...

 

and they all went to Sochi...

 

I see a lot of hypocracy and confusion here...

They had to be in Sochi on Thursday morning, so of course everyone was already in Sochi by Wednesday, it's not like they could predict the future. And the IOC advice came yesterday, I can't see how pulling out this morning can be hypocrisy this time.

 

Anyway, Italian federation apparently let the fencers choose for today but pulled out of the team event.

And then almost everyone retired anyway, useless mess, any IF with  a non Russian president would have cancelled it yesterday evening following the IOC comments

A lot of the Western European nations are only playing 1 match then forfeiting, only really Russian and Korean fencers left.
